With our rescheduled Hay Bales Concert next Saturday, May 2nd, what better time to bring you into the MPAC than now!

Shows at the Moora Performing Arts Centre are more than just the event itself.

Moora, Hay Bales Festival is back on — and tickets are on sale now!

Following the impact of Cyclone Narelle, we've been working hard to make this happen — and we're so proud to say the show goes on.

While we weren't able to bring Jessica Mauboy back for a new date due to factors outside of our control, what we do have is something genuinely special: over 90 local performers — our school choirs, musicians, and community artists — sharing the stage with Australian Baroque, a nationally recognised Perth orchestra. Up close, in a proper concert setting, at the Moora Performing Arts Centre.

Behind Hay Bales Festival are over 90 local performers who have given nine months of rehearsals, early mornings, late afternoons, and everything in between to make this show happen. 🌾

School choirs. Local musicians. Community artists. People from Moora and across the Wheatbelt who said yes to something big — and have kept showing up, through a cyclone and a cancellation and everything that came with it.

On 2 May, it's their moment.

If you know someone performing — a child, a friend, a neighbour — this is your chance to be in the room for something they've worked incredibly hard for. And if you don't, come anyway. You'll leave proud of this community.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 💛

A huge 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙠 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙩𝙤 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙟𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙪𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙋𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙤 𝙍𝙤𝙤𝙢 — it was such a joy to see the space come alive with relaxed listening, curious sounds, and that gorgeous sense of shared calm.

We began the afternoon with a 𝙥𝙧𝙚-𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙘𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙖 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙥𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙨𝙩 𝙍𝙤𝙜𝙚𝙧 𝘾𝙪𝙞, before inviting audiences to experience MPAC in a completely different way. The whole event unfolded with audience members entering through the green room and both the performance and audience on the stage, transforming familiar spaces into something new and immersive.

Audience members were invited to 𝘀𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿𝘀, 𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗿, 𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗹𝗶𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻, creating their own perfect listening spot. Throughout the performance there were three opportunities to move seats, allowing everyone to experience the music from different perspectives and truly immerse themselves in the sound, space and atmosphere.

A very 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 to our loyal audiences who trusted the process — even when that meant heading back out into the blistering heat and navigating the ramp a few extra times. Your patience, good humour, and openness to trying something new did not go unnoticed. While I can’t control the weather (sadly!), I truly appreciate everyone’s understanding — especially as Roger needed some quiet space to prepare before the performance.

We’re excited to keep using the Moora Performing Arts Centre in 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀, to entice new audiences and offer fresh experiences for those who know and love the space already. Thank you for your trust, flexibility, and willingness to try something a little different.

We are thrilled to announce our annual Song of the Year competition, presented by Healthway is back! 🧡🧡🧡

Mark your calendars, entries are set to open Tuesday, February 3rd!

Entries are open to WA songwriters and artists of all ages and levels, who have written a song between March 2025 and February 2026. Please note entrants must have been residing in WA for the majority of the last 12 months.
