WESTERN SYDNEY SET TO POWER UP FOR SECOND ANNUAL POWER TOUR SERIES OPENING APPEARANCE
Official release: PWR TFH Sprintcar Power Tour
June 2, 2026

For the second year in a row Western Sydney Speedway will be the host venue for the opening round of the 2027 PWR TFH Sprintcar Power Tour.

Following last season’s standing room only appearance for the series’ debut at Western Speedway series organisers, teams and fans alike are delighted to see the Australia, USA and NZ intercontinental battle return to “WSS”.

“I think we were all thrilled with how last year turned out,” says series organiser Wade Aunger, “to be honest I don’t think it could have gone any better. The crowd was enormous and that proved to anyone who doubted it that elite Sprintcar racing is still very much on the radar of the speedway community in Sydney. Western Sydney Speedway did a phenomenal job on the track, the racing was first class and the finish in the A-Main was an absolute thriller. I didn’t hear a bad word about the event, it was everything we’d hoped for and believed was possible when we announced the series was heading there.”

This summer the opening round of the PWR TFH Sprintcar Power Tour will be held on SUNDAY NIGHT, JANUARY 3, 2027.

“With the final round of the Brandt Sprintcar Speedweek tournament being held on Friday night, January 1 we need to give teams 48-hours to travel to Sydney when you factor in maintenance and prep required after five nights in seven days on Speedweek,” says Aunger, “so it will be Sunday night in Sydney for Power Tour.”

The Western Sydney Speedway opening round will be the first of six rounds held across seven nights in NSW, QLD, Victoria and South Australia.

“We’ve added two new venues this season in addition to the tracks that supported us in 2026 and I feel we have some real momentum rolling into 2027,” says Aunger, “we’re planning to improve in many aspects of what we do and we’re talking with tracks and teams about how we achieve that.”

The TFH PWR Sprintcar Power Tour appreciates the support of the Western Sydney Speedway and the Sprintcar Association of NSW in locking in the Sunday night January 3 opening round of Power Tour.

GRAND FINAL OF SPRINTCAR POWER TOUR LOCKED IN AT PREMIER SPEEDWAY
Official release: PWR TFH Sprintcar Power Tour
June 1, 2026

The grand final of the 2027 PWR TFH Sprintcar Power Tour will be held at Premier Speedway Warrnambool.
The sixth and final round of the seven-night tournament will coincide at ‘the Bool on Sunday night, January 17 with the ‘International Cup’.
“We’re thrilled to finish off the Power Tour in Warrnambool,” says series organiser Wade Aunger, “to be able to coincide with the International Cup event on the Sunday night is the perfect way for us to put an outstanding exclamation point on the series. Over the last three nights of our series in South Australia and Victoria we’ll have a lot of additional appeal for fans and teams to travel with us and I hope that the promoting venues get the full benefit of our promotion and momentum.”
With the Power Tour finishing on the Sunday night it dovetails perfectly into the biggest week in Australian Sprintcar racing – the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic week.
“I’m thrilled and grateful that Rikki Stewart and his team at Premier can include us in the International Cup. It will be the second time in the 2027 series where we’ll be able to collaborate with another event, the Red Hot Shootout at Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway will also be doubling up with us to ensure maximum energy and exposure. Plus it also ensures that we have the best possible field for all the venues we race at,” says Aunger.
After the success of the 2026 Sprintcar Power Tour Warrnambool is now the second new venue to be added to the schedule along with Kingaroy Speedway Queensland.
With teams travelling across from QLD, NSW, SA and of course West Coast teams with both WA and USA drivers the intensity of competition and fan appeal will be significantly boosted.
There are also plans for a Gala Dinner in Warrnambool on the Monday night January 17 for presentations for Power Tour, Brandt Sprintcar Speedweek and to kick off the Classic week.

TFH PWR SPRINTCAR POWER TOUR HEADS TO KINGAROY SPEEDWAY
Official release: TFH PWR Sprintcar Power Tour
April 30, 2026

The TFH PWR Sprintcar Power Tour will head to Kingaroy Speedway in Queensland’s South East for one night only on Wednesday night, January 6, 2027.

Located 100kms West of the Sunshine Coast (the home of the biggest Modified Sedan race in the world the time honoured “Kings Royal” every Australia Day weekend) Ian Boettcher Race Parts Kingaroy Speedway will pull on its first Power Tour round and the hard working executive committee is excited.

President Pacey Clegg and Vice President Trent Gosley imported Sprintcar star Ryan Newton to come up and co-announce the news this week at ‘the Peanut Bowl’ and the news was met with immediate excitement in the Kingaroy sporting and business community.

“We can’t wait for the Power Tour to come here on January 6,” explains Club President Trent Gosley “we’ve got the Modlites and the Junior F500’s and we’ve got more to come yet hopefully.”

“The Kings Royal has been our major drawcard for years and it will continue to be,” says Pacey Clegg, “but we’re also excited to expand the variety of the attractions for Speedway fans in the region and the chance to have the Sprintcar Power Tour is something we’re very excited about. We had the Sprintcar Speedweek Series last year and that was very successful so we can’t wait to bring the Power Tour to the region.”

Surprisingly the January 6 date will be Ryan Newton’s first experience at the Kingaroy Showgrounds venue.

“I’m surprised I haven’t raced here before this either,” Newton explains, “but from what I can see already it’s going to be a lot of fun running here. I did see highlights of the Speedweek round from here and it was racy on the top and the bottom. That’s what we want on the Power Tour when we come here too.”

For Series organiser Wade Aunger the opportunity to expand the track portfolio off the success of the first year is something that brings added value to teams, fans and the series sponsors.

“We were so grateful to Ryan Harris and his team running three rounds last year at Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway last year but it I’m sure it took an enormous toll on his team and the fans having that much racing off the back of the Queensland Speedweek commitments. We really needed to find another venue in the Sunshine State to take the load off Toowoomba and also to expand our fan base and we were thrilled when Trent Gosley approached us during the Toowoomba week we ran asking if we’d consider Kingaroy. Having visited the town and the track yesterday I can honestly say I’m excited and grateful to the Kingaroy Club for their interest in picking up a round.”

The Kingaroy round is proudly supported by GK’s RV and Corbet’s Group.

More information on the other rounds of the PWR TFH Sprintcar Power Tour will follow soon.

MCHUGH POWERS ON TO INAUGURAL SERIES VICTORY
Official release: PWR TFH Sprintcar Power Tour
January 18, 2026

Lockie McHugh is the 2026 PWR TFH Sprintcar Power Tour Champion.
The 27 year old Gold Coaster had a bumpy build up to the final night of competition with a motor swap late in the afternoon and considerable damage from an incident the night before in the A-Main but he recovered in the best possible way with a near clean sweep of proceedings last night at Tolmer Speedway Bordertown.
McHugh set overall Quick Time, won his heat from position four (avoiding the Dash Re-Draw) and then stole away with the 30-lap A-Main victory on a wickedly racy surface to clinch the Championship overall.
Series wise he finished with 1020 points and only missed the podium once (with an eleventh the night before) from the seven rounds contested.
Marcus Dumesny climbed to second in the series with 968 points whilst Queenslander Jy Corbet's speed was rewarded (even though he had no brakes in the A-Main) to vault to third with 878.
Sydneysider Daniel Sayre and New Zealander Max Guilford tied for fourth with 862 with Queenslander Dylan Menz placing sixth on 852, Tim Kaeding seventh with 824, Brendan Quinn eighth on 808, Jock Goodyer (who missed the final round) ninth with 792 and Sydneysider Brett Hobson tenth on 722.
In total 85 cars overall signed in over the Power Tour across Western Sydney Speedway, Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway, B&S Earthworks Timmis Speedway and Tolmer Speedway.
Heartbreaking misfortunes mechanically and race crash wise saw American Tim Kaeding (motor issues) and Max Guilford (first a fire and then an dashboard/ignition issue after a major repair/rebuild to get back on track for the B-Main) not reach their clear potential at the final round.
South Aussie Brendan Quinn had one of his best nights leading the A-Main for many laps, Daniel Sayre found some speed and consistency and Jy Corbet's move to third in the points was a just reward for his perseverance.
It was Cole Macedo who started from the front row alongside Brendan Quinn for the feature race but officials ruled that he'd jumped the start and the Californian went back a row bringing Brendan Quinn to the front alongside McHugh.
Quinn led in the Kamstra S37 from McHugh at the greens but Reutzel spun the W17 and brought on the cautions.
Third start was the charm as McHugh led briefly but Quinn took the spot on the inside of turn three whilst Matt Egel ripped to third and battled with Macedo.
Two laps in Marcus Dumesny made it three wide with Egel and Macedo and moved the N47 into contention as he tried to keep his series aspirations alive.
James McFadden began his power forward in the A1 in sixth behind that trio.
Macedo and Dumesny made contact in turn three with Dumesny losing a spot and some serious momentum.
McFadden slipped by Macedo into fourth four laps in.
Jy Corbet and Daniel Sayre were safely inside the top ten whilst West Aussies Cal Williamson and Kaiden Manders began to look typically ominous as did Warrnambool's Peter Doukas.
Six laps in Quinn caught traffic and it got even more hectic.
Seven laps in Matt Egel challenged for the lead in the WER 52 and McFadden was hot on his hammer in fourth.
With twenty two laps remaining Dylan Jenkin made contact with Grant Anderson with Jenkin suffering terminal front end damage and ending a huge recovery effort from a blown motor in hot laps.
At the restart Dumesny shuffled by McFadden, Williamson bought in whilst Sayre was having a ripper behind that group.
Carson Macedo was up to eleventh when a big wreck involving Kaiden Manders and Ben Morris brought on the red lights.
New Jersey's Justin Whittall was clearly enjoying Tolmer in the RBH W21 and Andrew Priolo looped the W8 bringing on the cautions.
With eleven to go Matt Egel and James McFadden were trading slide jobs with Cole Macedo refusing to give in wheeling the Highline Motorsport W40.
With six laps to go McFadden closed in behind McHugh as they approached traffic again but McHugh eased further ahead with two laps remaining where he stayed until the chequers.
Previous night feature winner Carson Macedo meanwhile had won the B-Main and was beginning his forge to an eventual impressive fifth place finish from the twenty first spot at the end.
