The tournament, which was first played in 1993, is contested over three days at three of Sunraysia's golf courses, located on the Murray River in north west Victoria. Monday, Wednesday and Friday are the official tournament days which has both scratch and stableford sections, with Tuesday and Thursday set aside for social golf or social functions held throughout the Sunraysia region. t was the brainchild of local Sunraysia golfing identity Shane Doherty and his wife Kym. The tournament was renamed in Shane's honour in 2014 after he succumbed to liver cancer in July 2013. The tournament will continue to run in Shane's honour and in the spirit of his three famous quotes Memories live longer than dreams, It's always nice to meet nice people and Its nice to be important but its more important to be nice.
