Giro de Cassilis returns for the 4th year on March 7th and 8th 2026. Since its inaugural ride in 2023, the gravel bike ride has grown each year, drawing enthusiastic gravel riders from all parts of Australia with some even from abroad.
The event is a two-day gravel bike ride in the heart of the Upper Hunter, designed to showcase Cassilis as a prime cycling destination.
On Saturday, 7th March, riders will take on the challenging Triple Crown, an 88-kilometre course with rugged gravel paths.
Sunday's ride - 'Giro de Cassilis' offers a more relaxed 48-kilometre route, mixing gravel and tarred roads, including some hill climbs.
2026 introduces the 'The Bambino' ride - a shorter 9km ride for the little ones, families, and those new to riding who want to be a part of the event on Sunday. This course is designed to be short and sweet, mixed with bitumen to start, then transitions to gravel...and a hill!
All rides are out-and-back courses, allowing cyclists to choose their own distance and turn around when they feel ready. The event caters to cyclists of all abilities, with the option of shorter routes providing a more leisurely experience.
This flexibility encourages participation from both competitive cyclists and those looking for a fun ride while also promoting community engagement and supporting local businesses in Cassilis. Riders will finish both days at the Royal Hotel, where they can enjoy a well-deserved meal and refreshments.
Whether you're chasing the challenge of the Triple Crown or simply enjoying a scenic ride through the Upper Hunter, Giro de Cassilis offers something for everyone. Come for the ride, stay for the community and local flavour!
