❤️ THE STORY BEHIND PARKRUN ❤️

This story about parkrun founder Paul Sinton-Hewitt is a powerful reminder that you never really know what someone has been through, or the impact one person can have on so many lives.

Paul experienced loneliness, bullying and incredible adversity growing up. Yet from that came a simple idea — people coming together for a run, a walk and a coffee.

That little idea became parkrun, bringing connection, friendship, belonging and joy to millions of people around the world.

And we see that impact every Saturday right here at Menai. 🥰

Different ages, different abilities, different stories — but one community.

How lucky are we to be a small part of something that has made such a huge difference to so many. ❤️

From one small gathering in a London park in 2004… to more than 3,000 parkrun events around the world today, including more than 550 across Australia, around 120 in New South Wales, 35 in Sydney & 2 in the Sutherland Shire.🌏❤️

And every single one exists because people come together to create community.

Hi All

Getting the call for volunteers out early this week.

We need
- four marshals
- someone to hand out finish tokens
- one barcode scanner

All of these positions are mandatory allowing the event to go ahead.

If you want to break your volunteering duck, or haven't done it for a while, maybe grab a coffee on the way and support the event we all love.

Menai Parkrun #528

Beautiful morning for a parkrun today. Over 188 participants turned out for an energetic 5km. Such a good crowd with visitors from across Sydney.

A little smokey from some current control burning but not enough to stop the keen walkers and runners.

Special mention to our volly icon Heather Lillington who met her 25 volunteer milestone today as marshal on forest grove road end.

Thanks to all our volunteers for the continued dedication and commitment to our community. Amazing group of people.

💎 LOST DIAMOND EARRING 💎
One of our much-loved and valuable members of our parkrun family has unfortunately lost a diamond earring at parkrun yesterday. 🥲

We’d love our wonderful community to keep an eye out in case anyone has spotted it or happened to find it after yesterdays event.
