For the first time in Australia, Mark Ernestus’ Ndagga Rhythm Force lands at The Night Cat on Thursday 28 May for a rare and immersive live show.

A true meeting of worlds, ’ Ndagga Rhythm Force brings together the deep pulse of Berlin dub-techno and the ecstatic, polyrhythmic force of Senegalese Sabar music. A foundational figure in electronic music, Ernestus - co-founder of Basic Channel and Rhythm & Sound, and the mind behind the legendary Hard Wax - has spent decades shaping sound system culture. With Ndagga Rhythm Force, that lineage expands outward, reconnecting with the rhythmic origins that underpin it all.

Formed through Ernestus’ long-standing collaboration with master percussionists and vocalists from Dakar, the group channels the raw energy of Mbalax into a hypnotic, forward-facing live experience. Driving Sabar drums, call-and-response vocals, and dubbed-out bass lines lock into trance-inducing cycles of sound that is both minimal and explosive.

Rounding out the evening, we’re joined by two of Australia’s most exploratory rhythmic minds, Rohan Rebeiro and Maria Moles , for an exclusive one-off percussion collaboration featuring Sydney rapper SOLSA .cum and warped with audio-bending interventions by CS + Kreme’s Sam Karmel. Together, they carve out a space where live percussion, voice and abstraction collide in real time.

Also joining the night is DJ General Feelings (aka ), bringing her deep rooted connection to Naarm’s sound system culture. Recognised as the force behind Australia’s first woman-led sound system, Quintanilla’s practice centres collectivity, diasporic exchange and the physical power of low-end frequencies. Her sets draw on this lineage, weaving percussive club forms, experimental rhythms and bass pressure into transportive, body-focused journeys shaped as much by community as by sound itself.

🔗🤍 Egyptian producer and sonic agitator 3Phaz is set to touch down in Australia for his long-awaited debut, delivering a first taste of his high-voltage fusion of Egyptian Mahraganat and Shaabi rhythms with bass, techno and forward-leaning club mutations. It’s a sound forged in Cairo’s underground; raw, percussive and unapologetically confrontational.

Emerging as a key force in the evolution of contemporary Mahraganat (a counter-culture genre famously banned from live performance in Egypt), 3Phaz has helped propel the DIY movement into new territory. Reframing its bombastic street energy through industrial sound design and system-ready low-end, he’s carved out a darker, harder and unmistakably futuristic strain of club music that sidesteps traditional gatekeepers and authority alike.

His self-titled EP and full-length album Three Phase on Hyperdub positioned him at the forefront of experimental electronic music, earning praise for razor-sharp percussion, tectonic bass weight and meticulous production. Following that breakthrough, his 2023 release Ends Meet landed on multiple year-end best-of lists, including Pitchfork, The Quietus and Bandcamp.

Beyond the studio, 3Phaz’s reputation for high-intensity performances has seen him appear at international festivals such as Unsound Festival, Le Guess Who? and Primavera Sound, cementing his status as one of the most vital voices in global club culture.

Catch him for an exclusive live set at this year’s NTS Naarm, alongside a run of high-impact club sets across Melbourne, Adelaide and Canberra - a rare chance to experience one of Cairo’s most electrifying exports at full force.

Electronic polymath Yu Su returns to Australia in full command as the quiet master of the in-between. Her sets unfurl with poise and precision, gliding from vaporous ambient to tensile house, sculpted techno and rarefied leftfield rhythms. It’s music that doesn’t chase the floor, she moves with it.

Touching down for select appearances at NTS Naarm and Pitch Music & Arts Festival, she brings a globally revered vision shaped by restraint, depth and undeniable presence. At NTS Naarm, she will also debut her forthcoming record, Foundry, in a surreal live AV transmission that unveils an elevated expansion of her sonic empire in real time.

Crown Ruler proudly presents the return of Danilo Plessow aka MCDE.
A DJ’s DJ in every sense - one of modern dance music’s most venerated selectors.

This February, catch a master at work as he captures dancefloors across Australia.

For over 25 years, Danilo has stood for something richer: taste over trends, context over convenience, connection over spectacle. Technically precise, instinctively curious and shaped by deep jazz, soul and disco roots, his work honours musical lineage while keeping the floor firmly in the present. In an era of image-first club culture, Plessow remains resolute - music always comes first.

His CV is formidable: club-defining productions, the influential Raw Cuts series, aliases spanning Inverse Cinematics to Vermont, and recent acid explorations via Rude Futures. Through Space Grapes and live projects like Another Taste, his analogue-first studio ethos runs deep.

As a DJ, few possess his range, restraint and flow. Seamlessly crossing genres, his sets are fluid, expressive and full of spirit.

Expect sweaty floors, smiling faces and stories told record by record.

Great records. Played right.

Crown Ruler & Planet Trip collide for their first soirée of 2026.

Leading the charge is Los Angeles electro royalty Egyptian Lover, delivering a rare Valentine’s Eve transmission.
The undisputed King of the 808 and architect of West Coast electro - live and direct.

That legacy comes full circle with a special on-stage moment as Shahara-ja joins him to perform the timeless hit
“I am an Arabian Knight.”

Pushing things further into the future, UK’s Lord Tusk lands for their debut Australian performance, bringing freaky, forward-thinking energy perfectly tuned for the night before love day.

Rounding out the night from open to close, Sydney’s rising queen Mazzacles holds it down on the ones and twos from 9pm til freak-o-clock
