ARTISt spotlight: “THAIS”

Thais has spent years moving through dance floors, from hi-tech and psycore to drum and bass, weaving between forests, raves and open-air gatherings in different corners of the world. Her journey has never been linear, but beneath all the twists and tempo changes, 140 has always stayed at the core. Now she’s circled back to Melbourne and to old-school bass at the roots, blending it with heavier new rhythms and filthy whobs, grounded in the sound and the home that have always called her back.

THIS FRIDAY 24th April
We welcome Midium.

Midium is Queensland’s unofficial official sonic librarian, known for his effortless ability to sling any kind of tune at any time a dancefloor demands.

Dealing in everything but the obvious, he navigates the depths of the archives to unearth the rough and ready gems that refuse to fit neatly into a clean box.

His flagrant disregard for genre rules allows him to find the grit that actually moves the room, whether he’s on opening duties, peak time, or the close.

Expect a set built on rare finds and sharp instincts, packed with unearthed heaters, unexpected textures and more than a bit of bombastic steeze. Forget the hype, Midium lets the archives do the talking.

Artist Spotlight -
MARKJ

Markj is a Melbourne based DJ from New Zealand.
His sound encompasses all things House, Techno, and everything in between.
He runs a little project called Soundfood. This is where he simultaneously cooks food and DJs for his audience.
Over the years he has been lucky enough to open for a bunch of amazing musicians, including Carl Cox, Seth Troxler, Moodymann, James Curd, Psychemagik and D-Nox.
He has also had the pleasure of showcasing his projects at some incredible festivals, including Rainbow Serpent, Burning Man, Strawberry Fields, Rhythm & Vines, Happy Daze and Chi Wow Wah Town.
In 2014 he released a cookbook featuring a group of musicians who all provided a tune to go with a recipe. Some of the artists included Opiuo, Spoonbill, Tom Cosm, Fiord and Mr Bill.
Last year he released a follow up to that book. “CAULIFLOWER EARS”released on vinyl as box set with cookbook featuring artists such as Doppel, Uone & Out Of Sorts, Electrocado, James Curd, K+Lab, Kodiak Kid, Moontide, Austero and many more.
