BALLARAT MARATHON WRAP

Reflecting on Ballarat Marathon, it was a tough day out with warmer than average conditions and wind that picked up throughout the morning. From what I’ve seen most people struggled and were not running PBs.

Our results:
Gary - 4:24:46 - debut marathon (at 71 years old)
Dylan - 3:37:58 - marathon
Maryanne - 2:39:52 - half marathon (at 69 years old)

A tough battle for all 3 for different reasons. What I’m really proud of is the mental toughness shown to push through when things don’t go to plan.

Well done Gary, Dylan and Maryanne, you should all be proud of your efforts and the strength you showed to push through on a tough day!

Good luck to our Ballarat runners tomorrow!

Gary will be making his marathon debut at 71, stepping up after an impressive half marathon at Ballarat last year. He’s trained consistently and is ready to take on the distance.

Maryanne will be racing the half marathon after a really positive block of training. It’s been fantastic to see her fitness continue to build.

Dylan returns to Ballarat for marathon number 6 and his second time at this event. He’s put together a strong preparation and is ready to give it a good crack.

A lot of runners turn easy runs into something a bit too hard without realising it.

The problem is that easy runs are meant to help build consistency, support aerobic fitness, and leave you ready for the sessions that matter most.

A good easy run should feel controlled, conversational, and leave you feeling pretty good at the end.

Easy doesn’t mean pointless. It means purposeful.

Let's go Alex, big goals achieved in November!

GPT50K first ultra marathon completed! The 50km trail run included 2000m+ elevation gain 🤯 Alex put in many hours with a focussed plan involving up hill and down hill training, long trail runs and simulation weekends to prepare.

2XU half marathon followed, coming off the ultra fitness. Goal sub 5:00/km, actual around 4:44/km for an offical time of 1:39:53 💪 PB 🙌

Well done  !!5km pace now = half marathon pace 👊
