HEX Fight Series 23 will showcase a stacked card this August with both local and international talent, live from the Melbourne pavilion.
Melbourne favourites Nikos Trepca, Semakadde Kakembo, Josh Grove and Sarmad Jahanara will be taking on Korean Top Team with 4 of their top fighters.
Dzhabar Askerov will face the ever-dangerous Jonathan Tuhu for the second time on August 5th. In their first encounter, both fighters showed a relentless pace when they met under k1 rules. Dzhabar was able to stop Tuhu by unloading a series of unanswered leg kicks that came back to haunt Tuhu in subsequent rounds and neutralise his greatest weapon. This time the two will meet inside the Hex cage with lighter, 4oz gloves. Tuhu is a knockout expert and hits like a freight train. There is a huge buzz about this fight already.

A stacked card headlined by JJ "Superman" Ambrose (GUAM) vs Abel Brites (AUS) for the Hex Super Lightweight Title. Both fighters have featured on Hex numerous times and promise excitement every time they enter the cage. Originally planned for earlier in 2022, Covid struck JJ and inevitably postponed the fight.

#1 out of 65 active Australia & NZ Pro Lightweights.
#1 out of 246 active US West Pro Lightweights.
#12 out of 1039 active United States Pro Lightweights.
By the same rankings, Abel Brites holds the #8 spot for Australian / NZ Lightweights and Welterweights. Abel is not one to concede this position and has caused major upsets at Hex Fight Series dating back to Hex 3 when he spoilt Nick Patterson's hopes of securing a hex title and later submitting Brad Riddel (UFC) in the first round at Hex 15.
Both fighters are not overly experienced at this weight so there are many varying factors that will impact the preparation, but one thing is for sure, both are coming with the intention of taking home Hex Gold.
