🌊 You may have found our page after seeing the flood video that is doing the rounds… and you might be wondering.. what is parkrun?

If you’re new here, parkrun is a free, weekly, timed 5km event where people can walk, jog, run, volunteer or simply come along and enjoy being part of the community. There’s no cutoff pace, no membership fees, and no pressure to be fast. Whether you’re aiming for a personal best, walking with friends, pushing a pram, walking the dog or just looking for a reason to get outdoors on a Saturday morning, parkrun is for everyone.

📍 Dawesville parkrun
📅 Every Saturday
⏰ 8:00am start
🏃‍♀️ 5km walk, jog or run
🙋 Volunteers always welcome

To take part, simply register once for free through the parkrun website (https://www.parkrun.com.au/register/?eventName=dawesville), bring along your barcode, and join us on Saturday morning.

Our course takes in the beautiful Dawesville Foreshore, although as many of you saw this week, sometimes Mother Nature likes to remind us who’s really in charge! 😅

If you’ve recently discovered our page, we’d love to see you at an event soon. Everyone is welcome, and there’s always someone to walk, jog, run, volunteer, or chat with.

Good timing, everyone!
Twenty-four hours later and we’d be looking at a parkswim rather than a parkrun. 🌊🏃‍♀️➡️🏊‍♂️
Hopefully the course dries out in time for next weekend, but for now, time will tell. Most importantly, stay safe and look after yourselves in this weather.

Wow! Congratulations to Darren.
What a legend!

This weekend, Darren Wood will become the first person ever to join the 1,000 walk/run milestone club 💛

That’s 5,000k covered over 22 years, a milestone that would still take around 19 years to achieve even with perfect attendance every Saturday 🤯

A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers — Caitlyn, Christine, Glenn, Glyn, John, Kathryn, Sally and Sarah — for making this morning’s event happen. parkrun simply couldn’t go ahead each week without your time, energy and support.

A massive congratulations to our milestone achievers:
Guy Smith on completing your 10th parkrun
Casey Smith on completing your 10th parkrun
Kev Walker on completing your 25th parkrun
Denis Taylor on completing your 25th parkrun
Jim Yu on completing your 100th parkrun

What wonderful achievements by you all! I’m very sorry I forgot to call out milestones during the briefing this morning — we’ll make sure we celebrate you properly next week!

We also welcomed some first timers and visitors today. Welcome to the club everyone — we hope to see you again soon!

It was also wonderful to welcome special guest Chris Hoy Poy visiting us today. Chris is a parkrun WA Regional Ambassador and Run Director at Bibra Lake parkrun. It was fabulous to have you visit us Chris, and thank you for everything you do for the parkrun community!
