Charlotte Mateljan Claims Victory in Pro Junior Women’s Wakeboarding at Mandurah Action Sports Games
Mandurah, WA – March 2025 – Rising wakeboarding star Charlotte Mateljan has secured a spectacular victory in the Pro Junior Women’s Wakeboarding competition at the Mandurah Action Sports Games, taking home a $4,000 prize for her weekend’s work.
The 17-year-old from Byford, Western Australia was unstoppable from the outset, confidently landing her signature tricks, including a backside 360 and frontside 540, to dominate the field. Her stellar performance cements her status as one of Australia’s most promising young female wakeboarders.
"Winning the Mandurah Action Sports Games means the world to me. Competing in front of tens of thousands of people was nerve-wracking, but having my friends and family there to support me made it even more special. I locked in, focused, and delivered when it mattered most to take out the title," said Mateljan.
Mateljan’s career highlights include her selection for the Australian Wakeboard Team, where she represented the nation at the 2024 World Wakeboard Championships in China, securing an impressive 4th place finish. She also achieved a silver medal at the Melbourne Moomba Masters, further showcasing her exceptional talent on the international stage.
Over the past three years, her career has flourished, placing 2nd to Australian Champion Mckenzie McCarthy at the 2024Mandurah Action Sports Games and claiming two gold medals at the Australian Wakeboard Championships this year.
Beyond her wakeboarding success, Mateljan is also an apprentice electrician, demonstrating her dedication both on and off the water. Her favourite wakeboarding location is Logue Brook Dam in Western Australia.
Mateljan’s stablemate, 14-year-old Stella Kennedy, also delivered an outstanding performance, securing 3rd place in the Pro Junior Women at this year’s Mandurah Action Sports Games. A member of the Peel Regional Academy of Sports, Kennedy also claimed 3rd place in the Under-14 division at the World Wakeboarding Championships in China.
