Have you ever thought about what the life of a must be like?
Early morning starts, freezing cold water and the wilds of Bass Strait are all part of life for Mallacoota’s Abalone and Urchin divers. They often leave before daylight and dive in as the sun cracks the horizon, so today we are taking a moment to appreciate those who collect our food even if it does include the frigid waters of Australia’s east coast. Are you brave enough to take a dip?
Start with a sunrise session and follow it up with a in the Mallacoota Lake just inside the entrance. Then warm up around the fire and enjoy breakfast from Mallacoota Food Chariot and fresh coffee from Larry’s Coffee Van.
Come for all or part of the morning.

Join .kelpau diver and Captain Dale, and the team from to discover the world of aboard the M.V Loch-Ard.
From the pristine waters of Bass Strait to a beer can and into a Sea Urchin Conserva, Centrostephanus rodgersii and Heliocidaris erythrogramma commonly known as Black Sea Urchin (long spine) and White Sea Urchin (short spine) are versatile, delicious and plentiful.

And let me tell you everyone was lapping it up at Sailors Grave Brewing 10th birthday celebration last night. Join us at the Wild Harvest Seafood Festival this September 25-27 for your chance to sample some locally caught and bloody delicious wild caught sea urchins. 📢 Calling all community groups 📢
We’re on the hunt for a community group or organisation to offer a sausage sizzle at the Wild Harvest Market at this year’s Festival 🌭
Supporting community is an important part of the Wild Harvest Seafood Festival and we are looking forward to working with as many local businesses, producers, creatives and community volunteers as possible.
The market runs from 8:30am - 2:30pm on Saturday 26th September at the Lions Park. There will be no stall fee for not-for-profit groups and we are happy to support you in any way we can.
We are still welcoming applications from other market vendors via the link on our website so make sure your favourite food vans and market stall know about our event.
