A warm welcome to all the competitors and spectators to the 2023 annual Mackay Beach Games Platypus Paddle. What better place to spend the day than at our beautiful Mackay Harbour.

The Platypus Paddle offers a unique opportunity for SUP, ocean ski and outrigger craft enthusiasts to compete in a variety of events. There’s a race for everyone, from beginners to an open ocean marathon for those looking for a challenge.

This is another exciting event, generating buzz for our region, and council is pleased to provide support through our Invest Mackay Events and Conferences Attraction Fund.
This fund aims to support sporting, cultural and commercial events that will attract visitors, generate positive economic results, and foster community pride.

A huge thank you to our sponsor Bennett Surf Life Saving for donating a Braca IV 670 surf ski race paddle into our prize pool for this Saturday Platypus Paddle Event. A big thankyou to Quona Ross Atkinson, North Queensland rep for delivering the paddle and some extra goodies last weekend. Thank you so much Quona and the Bennett surf team for their generous prize sponsorship and for continuing to support regional events in Australia.

To enter in the draw to win this beautiful paddle, simply register for one or both of Saturdays races and stick a provided Bennett sticker on your paddle craft. This special prize will be draw during presentations.

The Mackay Beach Games is excited to announce the date for the 2023 Platypus Paddle. Join us on October 28th, at the Mackay Marina for an epic morning of paddle racing. With a 5km flat water and 10 km open ocean marathon. We welcome OC1/OC2, Stand up Paddle, and Surf Ski craft.
