Sharing the info all details in the flyer….

Greetings friends near and far,
I hope you are well. We’re excited to share that Kulture Keepers Activate 2770 will take place on Saturday 30 May 2026 in Bidwill — a free, community‑led activation grounded in First Nations and Pasifika leadership.
This one‑day outdoor event brings government services, NGOs, arts and cultural organisations directly into a community with a strong Pasifika and First Nations presence. Families and young people can access information, enjoy performances, take part in activities, and connect with local services.
Some may wonder if this is “just another community event.” In many ways, yes — grassroots groups aren’t funded to deliver the big, flashy things we dream of. But this activation has purpose.
Activate 2770 is about advocacy and practical support. It’s a chance for our communities to:
• Write to their MPs
• Learn about sustainability in culturally relevant ways
• Access cost‑of‑living support and resources
• Connect with services they may not otherwise reach
Proudly brought to you by The Kulture Keepers (The Saltwater Alliance), The Root Crop, Our Lore, and NSW Homes.

Ratu Sukuna Day, honouring the legacy of one of our greatest statesmen. Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna’s visionary leadership continue to influence today.

Born on April 22, 1888, in the chiefly village of Bau, Ratu Sukuna was destined for leadership. He hailed from a noble lineage, a member of the Tui Kaba clan, one of the most prominent and influential Fijian chiefly families. This heritage imbued him with a deep sense of responsibility towards his people from a young age.

Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna was the first indigenous Fijian to earn a university degree. He studied at Wadham College at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in History in 1918 and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) in 1921

He led the establishment of the Native Land Trust Board (now TLTB), Ratu Sukuna perfectly balanced traditional knowledge with contemporary governance.

Ratu Sukuna’s emphasis on cultural preservation sparked a renaissance of Fijian arts and traditions, ensuring that traditional Fijian knowledge and practices were preserved and celebrated. This cultural revival has fostered a sense of pride and continuity among Fijians.

His "three-legged stool" philosophy harmonising the vanua (culture), lotu (church), and matanitu (state) remains central to securing customary land rights while driving economic growth.

Read more on the life and legacy of Ratu Sukuna through the reflections of USP’s Head of Discipline for Land Management and Development, Dr Joeli Varo:
