Last week was National Volunteers Week so I thought it was timely to acknowledge our local parkrun volunteers. Thank you to those who put their names on the board on Saturday. We only need volunteers for tokens and lower marshal for next Saturday plus parkwalker and photographer which is great news for the volunteer coordinator!
Every week, apart from the regulars who do set up, course check and run director, parkrun needs 8 mandatory volunteers to run.
Helen Coltman commenced parkrun in 2024. She has completed 44 parkruns and has volunteered 15 times. She often puts her hand up late in the week when we are struggling to fill positions.
She volunteers because she finds it fun and she likes meeting and talking to people. She finds parkrun people a 'good sort of people' and thinks Lawson parkrun is a great event to be out in the bush first thing on Saturday morning.
