Hello everyone 😀

Sorry it’s been a while .

Took some time to recover from the post ride beers with Matt, Tim, dale and Chinna 😅

The other reason for the delay in communications is because as we all know, it can take a while for a tradie to turn up but, after months of me nagging and him finally sorting through the wads of cash in his glovebox, Matt has finally crunched the numbers…..

$11,230.61

Thats how much you all helped raise for our ride this year. A brilliant achievement . 🙏

The official 3 day police charity ride will be happening at the end of November and our funds will combine with other participants to make donations to Cancer Council and Speak Up Stay ChatTy.

A big Thankyou again to our sponsors:

- Fairbrother Foundation
- Adina Motel
- Giant Devonport
- Glennroy’s Coffee
- Apple Isle Hospitality
- Finn’s Bodyworks
- Pellows Saws and Mowers
- West Launceston Automotive
- Possum Pouch
- Prospect Hawks Football Club
- Safetas
- myride Launceston

And of course a massive thankyou again to everyone who participated and contributed to making the day possible !!

We appreciate it very much and know that your efforts will also be greatly appreciated by the organisations that you have contributed to 😻.

It was a fine send off by Tasmania Police for our long time Daltini team mate and puncheur Keith Smith.

Thankyou Keith for the many hours spent together in the saddle, the determined half wheeling, the lead outs, closing the gaps, holding the wheel and the coffees, fruit buns and long cycling chats.

Your passion for cycling, community spirit and generous nature will live on through our charity rides.

Ride on #2390 💙✌️

Special thanks to Matt and Nick for all their work putting the day together and bossing me around.

Has anyone noticed that Nick has lost a lot of weight lately ?

Well it turns out that Nick has a bit of a sweet tooth and is a bit prone to late night ninja raids of the secret stash of the Cadburys family block.

This was not only impacting on his power to weight ratios, but more importantly, it was not going down well with the Mrs.

So the very clever Mrs clark, came up with a brilliant solution to lock the choccies away.

Aparently it’s also very good at keeping the tassie wildlife out of your tucker if you’re out and about on a wilderness adventure.

Thanks again nick for the inspiration for this clever little product and especially to nat for her support on sunday. ❤️

Not that anyone will tomorrow , but just in case, it’s good to know we will be in good hands.

Maybe you’re just a simple low tech kind of guy like matt challis and need some help about how to pump up your tyres ?

Maybe you’re a bit like Tim Elmer or Tim O’Shannesy and can’t understand why you keep wearing out the big chainring 🤷‍♂️

Or maybe you’re a high tech elite athlete like Dale Hainsworth and need some advice about how to connect your dongle to the wifi for your strava to connect to your wahoo kicker and your power meter pedals via the cadence sensor and Apple Watch to display on your Samsung tablet and share your hydration and ftp to Zwift and Facebook to get more likes.

Whatever your needs, you can count on Ben and the team at MyRide Launceston to help you out.

We are lucky to have some great local bike shops here and it is thanks to them that we have such a strong local cycling community. Their support of local cyclists and events is invaluable.

Thanks again to myride for your support of our ride this year.

Good afternoon everyone 😻

In preparation for the ride on Saturday , please have a captain cook at the important bits here you need to know to help Everyone have a jolly day:

Start time:
If people could be there by about 7am, that will give you time to be ready for a quick briefing from chatty challis, have a nervous wee, do some star jumps and burpees to warm up, listen to Geoff Rollins curse about how cold it is, Ockers to tell you how warm it is in the car and find your following vehicle if you want to throw a little bag in and be ready to to roll out on time.

- Bunch #1 departing @ 7:30 am 171km

- Bunch #2 departing @ 7:35 am 156 km
https://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/5931905959

Bunch #3 departing @ 7:40 am 129 km

The designated feed stop for the ride is at the Frankford Hall where there are public toilets and some beautiful ladies to give you some sas, some cheeky encouragement and food and drinks.

If you want to stop anywhere as a group, just chat to the designated leaders and it will be all good. (Previously we have stopped at Beaconsfield toilets to shed a few layers before the climb and use toilets and is easy to do if you wish.)

Where:
Starting and finishing at the Prospect Park Sports Club, Harley Parade, Prospect Vale.

Support:
This sanctioned event is being held in accordance with the requirements of the Tasmania Police Charity Trust.

There will be support vehicles, Ockers providing free advice and encouragement, with a few tools but please also carry your own spares because nick clark has no idea how to change a flat.

We have first aid, food and drinks provided.

The event is covered by liability insurance.

Attitude :
It aint a race, so cool your jets tiger and the aim of the ride is to stay as a group and help everyone get around .

However ….. if you are feeling a bit toey, like you missed out on your call up for the Giro agan this year or your life is consumed by strava, like Geoff Rollins, feel free to light it up big dawg 💥 and show us your stuff on the Holwell Climb. Probably be a prize for each group kom . Maybe .

Be a bit careful though on the other side of the climb as there’s a few shady and dodgy corner traps for young players.

When you’re done strutting your stuff, Just chill at the Frankford Hall with your ego until we can all re group.

Point out the pot holes and hazards ✅✅

If someone gets a flat or a mechanical, stop as a group and help them out 👍

The cops will be there, so we best follow all the road rules.

Push me or let me sit on if i start to struggle please 🙏.

The After Party:

BBQ 🍖 ✅ from 130 .

We will have access to changerooms, showers and the clubrooms like last year so bring a change of clothes.

Club Bar will be open and all purchases help support the club which in turn support us with the facility.

We really enjoy the chance to catch up with the cycling community so it would be great if you want to hang around for a bit. We have to be done by 5 as they have another event on.

Once again we have some amazing raffle prizes up for grabs.

Contact Numbers:
You can call dalts or clarkey but we will be riding, so best bet will be matt: 0417540991 and he will sort you out.

Weather is looking prime and we still have some spots available, so are happy to take late entries if you are keen.

Looking forward to a great day. Thankyou again to all our sponsors, all the legends helping out and donating their time to make the day work and of course to everyone participating to raise money for a good cause 🙏🫶🏻

Alrighty , not long to go now. Saturday is shaping up to be a good long day in the saddle.

Just so you know, your long day in the saddle and contributions are this year going toward supporting SPEAK UP Stay ChatTY and Cancer Council Tasmania.

You don’t have to look far to find someone who has been affected by cancer or su***de and your support allows these organisations to continue the great work that they do.
