The 2025 Paddle Challenge will go ahead as planned. The Paynesville course will follow the South side of Raymond Island. With one hundred and fifty paddlers on the water it will be an awesome experience on the Gippsland Lakes. Forecast for a sunny day of 19 Celsius with northwesterly winds below 10 knots becoming east to southeasterly by midday warm. Stay warm and well hydrated and stay safe.
Remember if you think the two hour time limit for you between Paynesville and Metung is above your capability consider to contest the Metung course instead. Drive back to Metung and inform the registration offical you have changed course. All Paynesville paddlers to carry a compulsory day flare and in date. No flare No start at Paynesville. Briefing at Paynesville 9.30 sharpe and Metung 10.45 sharp. With the peak of a run out tide at 10am up to 3 knots most paddlers will fill the start of a run in tide from 1pm. Remember you have to be at the presentation to go into the lucky draw for a prize.

The 2025 Paddle Challenge will go ahead as planed.
The Paynesville course will follow the South side of Raymond Island. With one hundred and fifty paddlers on the water it will be an awesome experience on the Gippsland Lakes. Forecast for a sunny day up to 19 celsius with North to Northwesterly below 10 knots becoming east to southeasterly in the middle of the day. Stay warm, well hydrated and stay safe. There will be a final weather update by 6am tomorrow morning.

Paynesville Start:

9.50am Prone-boards, SUPs, 70+yrs sea-kayaks and surfskis.

10.10am Sea-Kayaks, Outrigger canoe singles.

10.30am Surfski singles and doubles (SLSA and ocean skis merged), Outrigger canoe doubles.

Metung start

11.15am Prone-boards, Recreational kayaks singles.

11.30m SUPs, Recreational Kayaks doubles

11.45am Outrigger canoe singles

12.00pm surfskis doubles and singles, outrigger canoe doubles

ℹ️ ‼️ Mandatory Safety Gear & Conditions ‼️ ℹ️
You are required to present all mandatory safety gear at registration. Those that don’t meet regulations will not compete. This is for your safety.
✅Crafts will also be inspected on the waters edge & Scrutineering area.
✅ All crafts doing the Paynesville course must carry a orange smoke day flare.
✅ All Competitors Are To Wear There Own High Visibility Vest / Life Jacket.
✅ Red, Pink, Green, Yellow or Orange. NO Hi Vis Gear. NO START.
✅ All Sea Kayaks must have watertight bulkheads & to be using a skirt & carry bailing bucket or pump. No watertight bulkheads, no start.
✅ All crafts except Sea Kayaks are to use a leg rope/boat leash.
✅ Only Australian Standards PFD 1 or PFD 2 life jackets are to used and appropriate clothing for all weather elements.
✅ Bumbags Inflatable Lifejackets can be used on SUPS, Outrigger Canoes & Prone Paddle Boards.
✅ I am physically fit and have adequately trained for this event. By the date of the event, I will have completed the distance in a single training session.
✅ I am able to swim continuously for 400 metres unaided.
✅ I have read, understood, and agree to the race rules as published on the event website.

SORRY THE BUS IS NOW FULLY BOOKED.

BUS & CRAFT TRAILER to PAYNESVILLE ONLY.

Leaving Lakes Entrance 8am SHARP for Paynesville on event day. Bring your own straps and padding. We can bring back your personal belongings to the start line. If more seats are required to fill a taxi we MAY hire one. Location for bus and trailer is three hundred meters east side of the finish line/footbridge, opposite Big4 Waters Edge Holiday Park on the grass area. A fee of $10 cash for both trailer and bus.
