👉 Kyneton Town Hall 👈 Jimpa

🎫 Tickets are On Sale! 🎫
🎥 Filmmaker Hannah (Olivia Colman) takes her trans nonbinary teenager, Frances(Aud Mason-Hyde), to Amsterdam to visit their gay grandfather - lovingly known as “Jimpa” (John Lithgow). When Frances expresses a desire to stay with Jimpa for a year abroad, Hannah is forced to reconsider her parenting beliefs and the stories she has long told about her family.

🌈 Jimpa celebrates LGBTQ+ culture, as it is practised across three generations:
Grandfather Jim faces the challenges of aging as a gay man in a generation that never expected to grow old; non-binary teenager Frances grapples with disillusionment as their heroes fall short of their ideals; and mother Hannah navigates the differing perspectives of her father and child. Surrounding these three is a vibrant family – the family they were born into and the family they continue to create.

➡ Inspired by her own experiences as part of a q***r family, acclaimed filmmaker
Sophie Hyde delivers her most personal story yet. Jimpa is an authentic and intimate film, bursting with compassion for each of its characters.

📣 Presented in association with Council’s community health care provider Omnia Community Health.

👉 “It earns every emotion and then some, breaking the heart open with such breathtaking truthfulness that you get bowled over just before you land softly in its final frames.” THE WRAP

👉“Along with its genuine humor and a frank exploration of the different ways q***r people live today, Jimpa is an emotional experience that feels authentic in a way that can be difficult to capture.” SCREEN RANT
Jimpa is rated: MA15+

❄️ Winter Event ❄️ Whistles in the Dark (Rehearsal Reading)

👉 Join us for a public rehearsed play reading of Whistles in the Dark.
Written by local Ballarat playwright and poet Marty MonStar, the play features actors: Ian Rooney, Paul Lewis Canlan, Dawn Bamforth, Rexine Atkinson, Adrian Mulraney and Tessa Marshall
🛩️ The afternoon will take you on a journey inside an air raid shelter during WWII; Liverpool, England.
🎭 Whistles in the Dark is a powerful new stage play set during the Liverpool Blitz of May 1941. As bombs fall overhead, strangers shelter together beneath the city, sharing fear, humour and hope. Inspired by true events, this moving drama celebrates resilience, community and the courage of ordinary people in extraordinary times.
🚪 Doors open 1:30pm for a Rehearsed Reading at 2pm.
🎫 Limited space so we recommend you book your spot ASAP. And if you can't make it, please do let us know so we can re-allocate tickets.
➡ If you're a producer, theatre company, venue or festival director - please feel free to request a comp ticket - and if you'd like to talk to us about this project, please do! We're looking for future collaborators including sponsors and producing partners.
