Part two from the Prez! 😃
Let’s continue…..
Sunday’s final day of racing had the kids looking forward to some Pro Tree action, with separate brackets for the dragsters and an all-run format for them and the bikes. Two rounds of qualifying were completed and the Atlantic Oils Top Qualifiers were:
A/JD – Luca Lamattina
B/JD – Belle Ferguson
C/JD – Abigail Reed
A/JB – Lucas Bergamin
All 4 brackets got plenty of racing during the day with 3 rounds of hard fought action. Once the round robin was complete, we had some grudge runs and parent drives while the finalists got ready, with the most winningest drivers and riders taking their spots in the finals. The results were as follows:
Walker Family Racing A/JD – RU James Barlow, W Nathan Townsend
PBM Earthmoving B/JD – RU Kade Gummow, W Belle Ferguson
Shred Automotive C/JD – RU Abigail Reed, W Mason Sparrow
Just Muscle Cars A/JB – RU Riley Kilvington, W Cooper Plummer
A few more parent drives followed the finals before we closed the track and got ready for presentations. With a couple of awards to do before the finalists, we presented the Audisound Best Bike Package to Cooper Plummer, and the Brian “Scruffy” Lake Best Dragster Package to Taylor Horton. It was fantastic to have Scruffy joined by Zara Board to present the Anita Board Sportsmanship Trophy with Demi Van Dongen a very worthy recipient. All bracket finalists were presented with their trophies wrapping up a fantastic weekend of racing for another year.
The SDRA would like to thank all of our entrants and their families for supporting the event this year and hope you have all made it home safely, apart from our Perth entrants who are still making the long trek home with a truck full of trophies. We really appreciate the effort you have all made to make the weekend such a great one, and hope we can continue to make it a bigger and better event every year to keep you coming back.
We would also like to give a massive thanks to Phil, Sarah and the staff at the Nitro Golf Centre for coming on board as naming rights sponsor for the weekend, and all of our other fantastic sponsors who helped us to put on this great event. Whether it be bracket sponsors or contributors to auctions or give aways, your help makes the weekend a special one for the kids which they will always remember.
Thankyou to our caterers for all of the fantastic food we enjoyed throughout the event, and our ambulance volunteers who did a fantastic job all weekend marshalling the kids in the deep end as well as their normal duties. Thankyou to all of our club members and volunteers who backed up for a second weekend in a row, and especially those who put so much effort in to help run the event while also running their family race programs.
Thankyou to ANDRA for awarding us the privilege of running as part of the Championship Series this season, which is a big reward for everyone who has helped to build the event up since it’s inception, and we look forward to many more in the future.
Once again, thankyou for everyone for making it such a great weekend, and we will start to plan for next year (after a little rest).
