AGM ALERT

Got opinions about the Katherine Show? Perfect. We have a committee for that.
The Katherine District Show Society AGM is coming up, and we'd love to see some new faces in the room.

📅 Monday 30 November 2026
🕠 5:30pm
📍 Katherine Show Office

Every year, thousands of people enjoy the Katherine Show. What most don't see is the small group of volunteers behind the scenes making it all happen.

This year, we're looking for a few more legends to jump in and help share the load. Whether you're full of ideas, keen to get involved, or simply curious about what goes on behind the scenes, we'd love to meet you.

You don't need experience, special skills, or a farming background. You don't need to know the difference between a Brahman and a buffalo, run a rodeo, or bake a prize-winning scone. If you care about our community and want to help keep one of Katherine's favourite traditions strong, you've already got something valuable to offer.

All committee positions will be open for nomination, with roles to suit everyone from "happy to lend a hand" to "hold my b**r, I've got ideas."

Come along, ask questions, meet the team and find out how you can be part of the future of the Katherine Show.

Bring the kids, bring a mate, or just bring yourself.

The Show won't organise itself... trust us, we've tried.

The Katherine Show has been bringing our community together for generations, but it only continues because people put their hands up and get involved. We'd love to see a few new faces helping us make sure it stays that way.

Feel free to send me a message or give me a call to find out more.

Holy Cow Batman......its Tuesday....let's bring out another favourite recipe. This one was a staple in our house made in huge batches that taste just as good straight from the freezer. Sneaking one of these bad boys hot out of the oven could result in a blistered mouth from the piping hot jam. https://www.facebook.com/southauscwa/posts/tempting-tuesdaywho-doesnt-love-a-jam-drop-this-weeks-recipe-is-from-one-of-my-p/2224814744342072/

TEMPTING TUESDAY

Who doesn't love a Jam Drop? This weeks recipe is from one of my personal cookbooks - Family Circle Biscuits & Slices.

Jam Drops

Ingredients
80g unsalted butter
1/3 cup caster sugar
2 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence
1 cup self raising flour
1/2 cup custard powder
2 tablespoons raspberry jam

Method
Preheat oven to moderate 180 deg
Line two 32 x 28 cm biscuit trays with baking paper
Using electric beaters, beat butter and sugar in a small mixing bowl until light and creamy. Add milk and essence; beat until combined.
Add sifted flour and custard powder and mix to form a soft dough. Roll two teaspoonsful of mixture into balls and place on prepared tray.
Make and indentation in each ball using the end of a wooden spoon. Fill each hole with quarter teaspoon jam. Bake for 15 minutes, transfer to a wire rack to cool.

Happy Friday! Have you got any plans for the weekend?

I'll be moving from one air-conditioned room to another.

Katherine Version of Small Talk:

"Hot enough for ya?"

"Humidity's the killer."

"Need a good storm."

Conversation complete.

Here we are again...its Tuesday and I know you are all waiting in anticipation to see what recipe I am going to pull out this week.......

It's an absolute pearler and I remember both my Mum and my Grandmother baking this slice. This is also one of those ones that the neighbours across the pacific have tried to steal and rename as their own............In New Zealand it is called Louise cake. My favorite jam would definitely be raspberry for this slice but making it with a pineapple jam is also insanely delicious!

Raspberry Coconut Slice is a classic triple-layered slice that combines a buttery biscuit base, a layer of sweet, sticky jam and a topping of luscious coconut meringue.

How good was that little sprinkle yesterday? It certainly got the humidity cranking! My Friday morning mid coffee thoughts..............................

What's the best smell in Katherine?

The first rain after six months without it.

What's the second best?

The air-con when you get back inside.

You know you're from Katherine when a 38-degree day feels 'not too bad today.

Happy Friday!

You know what day it is.......retro recipe day. Check out this chocolate weetbix slice that is so good and there is even a lemon version. There is a reason I am never losing any weight. I tested this recipe and it is goood. I like my weetbix slice a little crunchy so I like the version without egg.

Make this easy Chocolate Weetbix Slice with simple pantry staples for a soft, chocolatey classic that’s perfect for lunchboxes and sharing.
