The FOCK: Festival of Canoe and Kayak has been named a 2025 Semi Finalist in the 7NEWS NSW & ACT Community Achievement Awards – Small Business category.

It’s an honour to be recognised among so many inspiring community initiatives across NSW and the ACT. This acknowledgment celebrates the effort of our whole team, partners, paddlers, and community supporters who help bring the festival to life.

The Festival of Canoe & Kayak was created to share the joy of paddling, connection to nature, and the spirit of community in Kangaroo Valley – the Canoe Capital of Australia.

HUGE shoutout to these two people: Travis and Sarah from and .

It is their generosity that has brought the Festival of Canoe and Kayak to life every year. In short: they have funded all the behind the scenes stuff that made the Festival possible.

They believe two things deeply: people should spend more time in nature, and that canoes are the best way to do that. The Festival of Canoe and Kayak is but one of many ways that they give to the community and live out that vision.

If you have an opportunity to let them know that you are thankful for what they do for the paddling community in Australia, be sure to let them know.

Southern Bass reeled quite a few folks in with live fish, lure displays, casting lessons, knot tying skills and lots of fishing stories.
If you need an excuse to come and paddle the waterways in the Kangaroo Valley, they also host the Yarrunga Bass Fishing Competition - open to all ages. Now in its 27th year!

We encouraged everyone to cover up even when the skies were grey. (UV radiation, which causes skin damage and cancer, is not related to whether the sky is clear! Even on cool, cloudy days, UV rays can pe*****te clouds and still cause damage.)

The Cancer Council NSW was kind enough to provide free sunscreen and lots of helpful sun safe information across the Festival.

Did you get to check out the Traditional Spear Fishing Workshops at The F.O.C.K.?.kv There were a few kids walking around with some dangerous looking implements!
Those who were lucky enough to be there on Saturday might have also seen the spear throwing at fish targets.

Thanks to NSW Fisheries for funding the activity. And thanks again to major festival sponsors Valley Outdoors and Paddle & Portage Canoes for making the Festival happen and allowing these cultural experiences to be shared.
