Weavery

Weavery Hi! I'm Rene Bahloo, the Empress of Weavery. Rene’s passions stem from her life-altering experience of Australian Indigenous culture in Arnhem Land.

Weavery is dedicated to sharing the powerful healing energy that flows in contemporary, ceremonial weaving circles: spaces of safety, nurture, creativity, connection and expansion. I offer workshops and retreats to share the connection, creativity and healing which occurs through a facilitated creative basket weaving circle. Weavery workshops are tailored to the needs of each group:
You come to me

: I gather others to share in my event and we all weave together. I come to you: At your gathering of friends- your special event - I come and share: the healing power of weaving: identifying weaving plants: how to prepare them: how to weave with them: weaving your intentions into a creative object/basket to gift for a special occasion like a baby welcoming or naming celebration, a wedding, a special birthday....
Also:
weaving for well being - social and community groups and gatherings
weaving the environment - school groups, festivals and celebrations
weaving for team building - business/corporate
weaving for creativity - educational groups and community events

Weavery is available for private and public celebrations (weddings, birthdays, festivals, fundraisers, networking events and conferences), catering for smaller or larger numbers of participants.

BIO
Rene Bahloo is a weaver, a teacher, a learner, and an artist. She weaves with the fibre of flow and meaning, spiraling ever outwards in order to manifest beauty and joyful wellbeing, like a spider spins her masterpiece. She invites others to gather in community, teaching cultural skills and sharing the active meditation of basket weaving, in a nurturing and supportive environment. She loves and lives women’s business, environmental connectedness, creative perspectives, the weaving of conscious, joyful communities and the magical journey of life. These passions have led to a Doctorate in Creative Arts, where she will complete a synergetic novel based on Indigenous culture, women’s business and weaving journeys to wisdom. Her goal is for us all to weave our world into a better place, to weave ourselves in healing and wellbeing, to weave our environment with passion and purpose.

Wrapping stitch, found in many weaving cultures worldwide. So meditative. Looks like a kind of sedge is being used, possibly a juncus? Or a cyperus? What do you reckon?

How interesting... the world is full of interesting people. Especially the weaving world.

How interesting... the world is full of interesting people. Especially the weaving world.

I've pondered off and on for a while, wondering how I would introduce myself to the 10,000 strangers now following my page...

This is the part where I could rally off all of the usual ways we 'get to know someone'...

1. Where I'm from
2. Artistic background
3. Cultural values
4. Why I do what I do

Topped off with ideas and hopes for the future.

At the end of it people would have a neat little package of who they think Anicha is, which might be enough to persuade you to respect her and her work.

Thing is, I don't care about those things. I don't use those things to define me, and I certainly don't think knowledge of that sort is a necessary prerequisite to feel enjoyment, respect, gratitude or warmth of another human.

It's Heart that I care about.
Heart that is behind everything.
Heart that sparks an unreasonable urge to move a human in a particular direction.
Heart that enlivens action with love and care and passion.

It's not culture or birthplace or beliefs that deliver Heart. Nah, those things can exist and be completely empty of it. Those things - in and of themselves - seem to breed threat and competition and superiority.

Heart is where we exist together with no difference.
And it is with Heart that I weave and showcase my creations.

So, hello out there, from one Heart to another 👋

Anicha x
