Hello Runners - we hope you are all training well and hitting the trails. We’ve been getting many messages from the community about UTJB-2026. Since we wrapped up in June, we’ve been working on next year’s approvals. As some of you may be aware, our Races travel through multiple jurisdictions - National Parks and Indigenous areas.
We are sad to say that Booderee National Park has declined our 2026 application so the Event will not run next year. It's really important to note that there were no major issues identified in our post race debriefs with the Park - the area was left in great condition and we received a lot of positive feedback from the local community - so we don’t believe that it's a reflection of the trail running community or the Event itself. For some context, Booderee is not public space. It is unique as a co-managed Park - with local Traditional Owners - who ultimately decide how the area is utilised. While very disappointed, we accept and respect their decision. We are really proud of the 2025 Event. Particularly our Sponsored Youth Runner Program which paved the way for some amazing young runners to push themselves, as well as the Indigenous artists, singers, dancers and community members that supported UTJB. Our sponsors Paddy Pallin, Destination NSW & Endu1 were simply amazing and we thank them for their support.
We wanted this to be a platform for theTrail Running community to embrace Australia’s Indigenous heritage and bond with the amazing natural landscape - and we feel that the 2025 Event achieved these aims. We appreciate everyone’s support and are sorry that we won’t see you in Jervis Bay in 2026. We will continue to work with the local community to see if there are possibilities for future approvals - and we may pop up somewhere else, you never know!!
In the meantime keep on Trail Running and have a great Christmas. Cheers Bart and Sarah
