We had a great fun rehearsal with most of the Roundabouts last night. They'll be punching out Tasmanian, old-time US and celtic tunes at our 29th annual Buttongrass Ball tonight, from 7:15 for 7:30 at St James' Hall in New Town. They'll be a big band tonight, with twin fiddles, double bass, mandolin, guitar and banjo, and including two visiting musicians from Alaska. Collected and new Tasmanian bush/folk dances dedicated to the natural and cultural heritage of Tasmania. Dance caller: David "Oddsocks" Wanless. No dancing experience or partner required. All ages and identities welcome. Tickets at https://events.humanitix.com/buttongrass26 or at the door.
