There are 15-50km Social rides on the same trails on Sunday Oct 6, 2024 for FREE - register below. THE CRAVE Bunbury Subaru & Toyota MOUNTAIN BIKE CHALLENGE
After a 5 year hiatus The CRAVE Mountain Bike Challenge is set to return on Saturday 26th November 2022, set in the spectacular Wellington Dam National Park. Over 600 riders loved taking part in the last event, so make sure you enter ASAP, as
numbers will be capped at 400. Entries are expected to open now. It is Australia’s only long distance mountain bike event run entirely in a National Park, featuring the wild rapids and tranquil pools of the Collie River Valley beneath steep rocky outcrops and pristine iconic WA forest. The National Park already has 60-70km of fast flowing scenic and challenging single track all recently added to the Park and upgraded as part of the Wambenger trail system. Another 46km of single track is being added now over the next 18 months, making it WAs and one of Australia's biggest MTB continuous trail networks!! The CRAVE Mountain Bike Events starts and finishes at the Bottom of the trail system, opposite the Wild Bull Brewery, overlooking the picturesque Ferguson Valley and Indian Ocean. Parking will be at the soon to be open prestigious Hope Springs Farm Bed and Breakfast Lodge adjacent to the trail system, with its own squash court, indoor pool and spa. With 6 different distance events and trail types over 6km, 15km, 25km, 40km, 50km & Subaru Mega Epic 90km, the CRAVE Mountain Bike events will cater for everyone from beginners, kids, families, weekend warriors and expert Mountain Bike Riders. The 90km Mega Epic Subaru Crave Challenge will be WA’s hardest 1 day event with over 1900m of climbing, including technical climbs and descents which are on the “Dark Blue “level, it’s definitely NOT an event for a gravel bike! To finish this will be absolutely epic!! Set amongst one of WA's best scenic valleys and trail systems, there is no area comparable in the State - a secret gem up until now! There will be a fair few riders who don’t finish or make the cut off times, so we will have “a cut it short option at the 79km mark”, after the first 3km ascent of Sailors Gully. Riders who take this option will still record a result with their placing and time recorded after those who complete the whole event. While full points are on offer as part of WA's XCM Series, new intermediate to advanced riders are welcome. The 50km Bunbury Toyota Crave Challenge has 1150m of climbing and is for those with intermediate to advanced skills, but aren’t quiet ready for the Mega Epic Event. Including the 3km climb of Sailors Gully, combined with some more short technical 100m climbs and descents and 28km of fantastic single track, recently refurbished and upgraded. Half points are on offer for those completing the 50km event. The 40km Willowbridge Wines Taste Test has all the features of the 50km without the grueling Sailors Gully climb, but still lots fun with 25km of single track up top plus the 3km descent down the Millbrook trail to the River. Again 1/2points are offer though these will be behind the 50km riders. The 25km Wild Bull Brewery Crave Challenge avoids the big hills and hard climbs and includes over 90% insanely fun single track and some amazing views of the Valleys below. A great event for the novice to advanced riders with tons of fun trail riding. Perfect for 14yr+ riders. The 15km Bunbury Cycles Crave Challenge is again 90% single track incorporating the legendary Boylan and Grizzly trails which have had some recent upgrades from the crew at Magic Dirt, adding some faster flow and progressive optional jump lines. Open to riders 10yr+. The 6km Crave Challenge goes up & down the most fun parts of the Boylan's and Grizzly trails. Perfect for kids 6yr+ and adults having fun with them. Saturday November 26, 2022
