Thankyou everyone for your feedback over the last few days.
Here are a few things we have noted.
-Target positions.
A lot of thought went into the targets. Trying to utilise every bit of interesting land layout and the couple other ones thrown in. The springbuck in the air seamed to be a big hit. Aswell as the crocodile over the dam with the other 3D scenes around it.
-Target cards at each shooting target.
This was an idea on what ABA did years ago. I can remember the first 3D state titles we held probably 12 years age. Branch had pictures of every target so you could see score zones. We added to this with specific distances for each peg.
-Shoot Off.
Based on a ASA style shoot off this setup was very well received and everyone enjoyed it.
-Food
A huge shout out has to go to Glenda for slaving away and cooking dinner for the over 100 dinners served on Saturday night. And a huge shout out to all the people who help serve and prep in the kitchen on the weekend.
-Variety of targets
The new wildcreate targets were a real hit.
-Course layout
The course layout was something different to out normal. With it basicly being a large circle of 40 targets. All shoots were taken away fron the club house and all walk backs. This made it easy and safe for someone to enter or exit the course at any time to go back to camp or club rooms.
-Drink Stations.
Slabs of water around the course were good. They were something that was there if needed to help somone if they were struggling. If it stopped one person from getting dehydrated it was worth it. It was disapointing to see bottles sitting around everywhere and not in the rubbish bins provided but even more disapointing to see opened bottles with little drank out of them discarded around the course.
-Rubbish bags on course.
These helped a lot with our clean up and Thank you to those who used them and picked up after those who didnt.
-Ladies Sighted division being freestyle and bowhunter combined.
The ladies sighted class was actually an added class. Originally i had freestyle open and bowhunter open. Much like ABA with ladies and mens together. But after discussions we opted to add a ladies class. And the Class was openly advertised as being ladies freestyle and bowhunter combined. So there shouldn't have been any suprises upon arrival. This was met with a few equality and sexiest comments that the ladies werent the same as mens. This could be rectified in the future by having three adult divisions. Freestyle Expert, Bowhunter Expert and Sighted Open. Expert divisions being pay out divisions.
-A consistency in shot distances.
This is a thing we largely discussed prior to the event. Trying to evaluate at what distance target life would be best preserved without stretching it to far. Most people would realise how expensive 3D targets are. On saturdays course there were over $25,000 of 3D targets. Having close targets and shooting them out in a weekend cant really be an option in my opinion. Shooting 3D targets is really something as a community we need to work out. We all love shooting them and i think we might have to start rising shoot fees to make it sustainable for the event holders.
Higher shoot fees would be able to result in a larger variance in shoot distances as you could afford for some targets to shoot out in a shorter period of time.
Distance around Course.
The 1.5km around the course is something that couldnt really be helped with the lay out of 40 targets.
More Shoot Offs.
If there are more participants and close competitions in other divisions it will be considered to do more shoot offs if future events happen.
