Held over four days, the Heart of Gold International Film Festival combines the genuine warmth and hospitality of a country town with world premieres of Australian and international short films that are entertaining, thought-provoking and inspiring.

Go Gold BLOCK PARTY!

It's FREE and it's on Thursday 17 Sept from 5pm to 8.30pm in Fern Street Park, Gympie.

Yes, we have 10 brilliant short films to show you in our outdoor cinema. And yes, there will be artisan stalls, food and more.

But did you know we have Silksunn performing live!

Emerging out of the depths of Gympie, 4-piece band Silksunn are proud to bring their smooth indie rhythms and radiating rock riffs to energy-hungry crowds wherever they roam. Band members Liam Garrett (Guitar/Vocals), Savannah Jones (Bassist/Vocals) Daylen Bartley (Drums) and Lennox Jones (Lead Guitar) formed the band in late 2024 on a whim and have since grown together in musical experimentation and determination. Silksunn bedazzles crowds with passionate performances and punchy lyricism, expressing their self-dubbed sound of โ€œSunset Rockโ€.
Silksunn have performed numerous hometown gigs and have since brought their music across the Southeast Queensland coast to the Gold Coast and Brisbane. The band was also a part of the โ€œShen Sessionsโ€ Project by producer Pat Preston in Coolum.
Currently, the band is preparing to debut their original music to public ears in late
2026.

A film festival is nothing without, well, filmmakers! And we are so happy to host filmmakers from all over Australia and sometimes the world, right here in Gympie Queensland.

Angus Ischia is a secondary student filmmaker from Victoria who travelled to Gympie with his Mum to see his film Sonder screen at the Student Showcase on Sunday.

They are pictured here with Al, one of our drivers who provides our filmmaker hospitality of airport transfers.

Angus will be back at the end of the week and attend our Schools Day, Gala and film sessions over the weekend. Thanks so much for coming Angus!
