The Irish Draught and Sport Horse Society Australia Inc.

The Irish Draught and Sport Horse Society Australia Inc. The Irish Draught and Sport Horse Society of Australia Inc. was inaugurated in May 1989. To this end, the Society keeps a Stud Book and a Register.

The role of the Society is to promote and preserve the Irish Draught and Irish Sport Horse in Australia. The objectives of the Society are:
* To assist in the preservation of the purebred Irish Draught Horse.
* To maintain an Irish Draught Stud Book with high standards of breeding, conformation, quality and soundness by a process of inspection and registration by a nominated panel of assessors a

t inspection days run by the Society.
* To enable the increase of the Irish Draught herd by allowing for upgrading of mare stock via a progressive process of increasing Irish Draught blood and Irish Draught type as determined via inspection over at least three generations.
* To establish and maintain Stud Books and Registers as defined from time to time to record the identity, parentage and performances of Irish Draught Horses and Irish Sport Horses.
* To advance and promote the breeding of a sport horse ideally suited to Australian conditions from Irish Draught and Irish Sport Horse crosses.
* To assist Society Members in promoting their livestock.

🦒🎃 Happy Halloween from Beyond Redemption! 🎃🦒

Irish Sport Horse Beyond Redemption (by Coleraine Redemption out of Bermuda Triangle by Family Ties) decided to ditch his roots today… and become a giraffe! 🦒😂

Proof that the Irish really can adapt to anything…..even life on the savannah! ☘️🌾

Wishing everyone a spooky, silly and safe Halloween from the “long-necked Irishman” himself 👻☘️

☘️❤️ VALE TULLOWS ALL OR NOTHING (“Eamon”) ❤️☘️

It is with great sadness we share the passing of Tullows All or Nothing, known and loved as Eamon.

Bred in 2004 by Sue and Chris Tufnell at Tullow Stud (Victoria), Eamon was by Raffles (produced by Kammy Cordner at Ashmead Stud), out of Tullows Drama Queen (SID) by Coosheen Liam (RID Imp GB).

Eamon’s pedigree traces back to some of the earliest Irish Draught lines brought to Australia through Mountmellick Stud and the work of Penny and Tim Reeve, whose importation of stallions like Kiltoghert Casey RID and Coosheen Liam RID helped shape the foundation of the Irish Draught and Sport Horse breeds in Australia in the late 1980s.

Under Stacey Tucker (née Fyfe), Eamon excelled across multiple disciplines, including many Supreme Champion and Working Hunter Champion ribbons, as well as many placings all over Victoria.
He represented Victoria on both State Showjumping and Dressage teams and went on to claim many placings and wins in eventing. Eamon even carried out THE Melbourne cup in 2013....the only time we will ever see an ISH in the lead at the races!! 🏆

In later years, Tash, Stacey’s sister, continued Eamon’s journey, competing with the same affection and partnership that defined his life. Together they achieved outstanding results, including recently Level 4 Dressage Champion and Best Performed Horse Overall at the 2025 Vic Police & Emergency Services Games, along with a Silver medal in Combined Training!

Even into his twenties, Eamon’s enthusiasm and gentle character never faded. He brought joy to everyone who worked with him and stood as a wonderful example of the generosity and versatility that Irish Sport Horses are known for.

To Stacey, Tash and the Fyfe family, thank you for the many years of care, partnership and love that made Eamon’s life such a special one and for sharing his journey will all of us. Rest easy, beautiful Eamon. ☘️

I’m genuinely proud of what IDSHS stands for, but I am sick to death of breeders deciding that their horses are so wonderful that rules can be broken when it suits them.

What is the point of having breed organisations if their rules are ignored the moment they become inconvenient? All breed organisations in this country are struggling because owners seem to have no respect for process, structure or regulation. The rest of the world is laughing at how unregulated and self-serving our horse industry has become.

When a horse is inspected by an official organisation and doesn’t achieve the result the owner hoped for, it looks terrible when another registry steps in and overrides that decision, especially when it’s done offshore.

IDSHS won’t do that and that’s exactly how it should be. The moment we start rewriting outcomes for convenience or commercial gain, the whole system loses credibility.

The rules exist to protect integrity, breeders and the reputation of our horses. We want to maintain standards that mean something.

We will start offering our support when people start showing respect for the system we all rely on.

Hold my beer…..🤭🤣

It's costing some parents more than $30,000 for their kids to participate in dancing, making it the most expensive sport. Karl can't fathom how the costs are so high.
