🚢 Wishing the PS Oscar W 'fair winds and smooth waters' ahead as Goolwa's heritage paddle steamer returns to the slipway for its scheduled biennial maintenance.

📽️ This video was taken last Sunday when the volunteers at the Friends of the Oscar W took
Goolwa’s beloved resident paddle steamer out for its last public tour before entering dry dock.

Skilled contractors and dedicated volunteers will now work side-by-side to ensure the vessel is in top condition and ready for a busy spring cruising season, with cruises set to resume in September.

The timing coincides with another milestone. August 1 marks two years of independent operation of the paddle steamer by the Friends of Oscar W.

Over that time, the volunteer-led organisation has successfully grown the business, more than doubling the number of cruises on offer.

Congratulations to the Friends of Oscar W on two successful years at the helm! 👏⚓️

🛥️⚓️ A special visitor has arrived at Goolwa Wharf, with PS Marion, visiting from Mannum, now docked and drawing plenty of attention on the water.

It’s fantastic to welcome a visiting paddle steamer to the Wharf, home of the SA Wooden Boat Festival, and to continue Goolwa’s strong connection to river and maritime heritage. A big thanks to PS Oscar W and Spirit of the Coorong for helping coordinate the docking.

And while it’s hard to believe, it’s now only a little over a year until the next SA Wooden Boat Festival. Time flies! If you’re having festival withdrawals, this is the perfect excuse to come down to the Wharf and see PS Marion up close, fresh from delighting crowds at the festival last year. The PS Marion is in Goolwa until 17 April.
