🔒 Australia's Privacy Act could see its biggest update in years.
The Attorney-General’s Department has released Exposure Draft legislation for the Privacy Amendment (Personal Data Protection) Bill 2026, which is now open for public consultation.
The proposed changes aim to better protect Australians’ personal information and address emerging privacy risks associated with today’s digital landscape, including artificial intelligence.
The Bill is still subject to further consideration by government, with public submissions closing Friday 18 September 2026.
With privacy and information security under increasing focus, having the right processes in place to securely manage and destroy information is more important than ever.
