This is what the Thornton Young Award is all about. 💛

Following the release of Brooke Seabrook’s new single “Took My Town Away,” we wanted to acknowledge the people and purpose behind this special opportunity.

Created by Lindsay Waddington Music, with the valued backing and partnership of the CMAA - Country Music Association of Australia, the Thornton Young Award was established to support Australian bush and heritage artists and help keep Australian storytelling alive through song.

As the 2026 winner, Brooke had the opportunity to record her original single at LWM House Studio on the Gold Coast, produced by Lindsay Waddington and featuring some of Australia’s finest country session musicians.

The award also includes support through radio distribution by Blue Shamrock Music, a studio video by Maddison Waddington, CMAA opportunities, and special guest appearances all designed to help the winning artist take the next step in their musical journey.

Brooke is the third recipient of the Thornton Young Award, following Paul Ricketts and William Alexander, and we’re incredibly proud to see another young artist sharing Australian stories through song.

Congratulations Brooke, this is exactly why the Thornton Young Award was created.

Step inside the studio for the making of Brooke Seabrook’s brand new single, “Took My Town Away” 🎶

As the 2026 Thornton Young Award recipient, Brooke recorded this song through the award initiative with Lindsay Waddington and an incredible team of Australian musicians.

“Took My Town Away” is a heartfelt bush ballad about watching your hometown change, and the memories that stay with you long after familiar places are gone.

We’re so proud to see Brooke’s story and song come to life.

🎉 Happy Birthday to Paul Ricketts!

Paul will always hold a very special place in the Thornton Young Award story as our very first award winner.

Since then, it’s been wonderful to see his music journey continue, and we’re proud to have been a small part of it along the way.

Today is a very special day for our 2026 Thornton Young Award winner, Brooke Seabrook Music, with the official release of her new single “Took My Town Away.”

Created by Lindsay Waddington Music, with the valued backing and partnership of the CMAA - Country Music Association of Australia, the Thornton Young Award was established to support Australian bush and heritage artists and encourage songs that reflect the spirit and essence of Australia.

Brooke is the third winner of the award, following Paul Ricketts and William Alexander, and her new single is a heartfelt song about watching your hometown change and feeling the loss of the place you once knew.
