Georgia Express returns in 2026, under new ownership from the Southport Yacht Club since last years competitive campaign. Skippered this year by Suzanne Oram, this 1993 Bruce Farr design was built in 1993 by Cookson Boats in New Zealand. She remains one of the most successful Mumm 36s launched with podium places in distinguished International regattas including The Corum Cup, Kenwood Cup and the Mumm 36 one-design world championships.

Return of the Kiwi's! 🥝🇳🇿
After competing in the for the first time last year, V5 and her eclectic crew of Kiwi and Aussie sailors are looking forward to returning for both the Gold Coast Mackay race and Sail Paradise in 2026.

From the Skipper:
"Over the past 12 months, we’ve been busy tweaking the boat and fine-tuning our rating in the hope of improving our IRC performance — and perhaps nudging ourselves a little further up the results sheet this year!

Both events are superbly organised by the Southport Yacht Club, but the real attraction for us is the chance to sail in beautiful blue open waters, enjoy fantastic racing conditions, viewing whales and trading the New Zealand winter for some Queensland sunshine, warm water, and a few cold drinks after racing. It is nearly as nice as sailing in New Zealand!" 🙌💪

Welcoming the return of pedigree racer Black Diamond for their 3rd GCCM Gold Coast Mackay Yacht Race! 😎 Skippered by none other than Commodore of the Southport Yacht Club Glenn Burrell, this Reichel Pugh 42 and her crew of winners has seen solid new competition in the 40+ foot class come online in South East Queensland. With eyes on the the IRC & ORC tropheis, Black Diamond is certainly one to watch this year!

From the Skipper:
"My crew and I really enjoy the challenge of this 520nm race. Sailing up the coast of Queensland at this time of year is very enjoyable, as the weather gets warmer the further North you go and the SE trade winds are still prevalent. The support of the people of Mackay for this race is second to none, and they really offer a warm welcome when you arrive after 2-3 days of sailing."

Welcoming the iconic Wild Oats X to Mackay'26! 😎 Making full use of the extraordinary berthing arrangement for Mackay & Hamilton Island Race Week entrants, this Reichel Pugh 66 will be hoping to taste sweet victory at the finish line (as well as the sweet Sarina Sugar Shed rum 🥃)

"This is a new era for the boat, and we're absolutely keen to start campaigning again. We've heard great stories about this race, including the spinnaker start and epic island route options, which will keep our Navigator Alice Tarnaski on her toes. We're excited to be part of this in 2026, enjoying a few days of respite in Mackay and then continuing onto Hamilton Island Race Week."

Welcoming a new double-handed entry to the 2026 fleet, ⛵️ Employment Hero Alliance! Skippered by none other than Annie Stevenson, who followers may recall joined Elizabeth Tucker as a last minute entry into the 2025 fleet aboard First Light.

Annie is campaigning this competitive Dehler 30 out of Middle Harbour Yacht Club in Sydney with Peter Winter, returning to the race for good times, good vibes and its reputation for downhill sailing into warmer waters, and an even warmer welcome in Mackay!

Oceans Tribute has entered the fleet!
Circumnavigator and recipient of the Australian Trophy for a meritorious voyage, skipper Guy Chester is currently in New Zealand preparing his Crowther 40 trimaran for the Solo TransTasman Yacht Challenge from Opua to Gold Coast, alongside fellow GCMYR entrant Vixen Racing.
Set to make full use of the benefits on offer at Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard between races, Guy is mad keen to enjoy the warmer climes of the Queensland coastline this winter. A respectable Line Honours contender, Guy will be chasing the OMR Trophy and multhull race record, set by Greg Alder's Top Gun in the inaugural 2024 race.

Welcoming another first time entrant from Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club, ⛵️ Saltwater Wine!

This JPK1080 design was originally campaigned and known in racing circles as Atomic Blonde and Rockall 8, before Skipper Jamie & Thomas Woods purchased her in January 2024 following the 2023 Rolex Sydney Hobart. Now calling Newcastle home, Saltwater Wine is already a competitive boat in many of her local regattas and is certainly capable of podium finishes, such as earning line honours and 3rd place in the Sydney to Pittwater, 2nd in a NCYC offshore race and 5th in the RKR Shield offshore component since her relocation. Now the tropics are calling 😎🥃🌴

Saltwater Wine is the second Mackay contestant sailing out of Newcastle for a warmer winter climate, following Mako Sailing Team's inaugural race last year. 🥳⛵️
