The people I miss 🥰

It was great to catch up with Jeri Hall Deputy Mayor of Lismore today. It is people like this that remind me what the job of Councillor is really about.

The amazing Job Jeri and Steve Krieg have accomplished in the rebuild of Lismore is inspirational. My daughter Mary was playing football at their immaculate sporting precinct today.

While the Greater Northern Tigers came away the winners 🥳😁 all was forgiven over a beer after the game at La Baracca

Keep up the great work guys. I can't wait to catch up again with Clr attached to my name again.

Over the past several months an external Code of Conduct investigation was undertaken into complaints about my conduct as a Councillor with Glen Innes Severn Council. I believe the community deserves the full picture regarding the Code of Conduct investigation into my time as a Councillor.

Over many months, an external investigator was engaged by the Glen Innes Council to review council meetings, internal emails and my social media commentary during a period where I was openly challenging council leadership, financial management and the proposed Special Rate Variation.

The result?

After all that time, expense and effort, the recommendation was that “no further action be taken”.

No suspension.
No disqualification.
No referral.
No penalty.

The matter should have been closed yet, this council under a cloud of conspiracy and corruption decided to refer the matter to the office of local government and release press statements on the matter.

What concerns me is not robust scrutiny, I welcome that, but the scale and timing of the process. It is my firm belief that the intensity of this investigation was disproportionate to the language used and had the practical effect of sidelining a dissenting voice ahead of an election cycle. The community can form its own view on that.

The report criticises phrases such as:

• “Who are we trying to protect?”
• “What are we trying to hide?”
• “Our council is in turmoil because of your lack of leadership.”
• “Cowards”

These were political criticisms made during debate about governance, transparency and financial accountability. Questioning leadership decisions is not misconduct, it is part of the role of an elected representative.

A significant part of the complaint relates to my repeated requests for access to the draft “Capacity to Pay” report during the Special Rate Variation process.

For clarity:

- I asked for the original draft report.
- I was told it would not be provided
- I asked again.
- I was told it was “not the practice” to release drafts.
- I maintained that as a Councillor, I had the right to request documentation relevant to a 68.5% proposed rate rise affecting our community.
- I indicated that, if necessary, I would pursue access through formal channels.

For making those requests, after reviewing council reports, attending workshops, reviewing community consultation and scrutinising the report and timing of its release, I stated.

“I do not believe there was a draft. It is my contention you have misled this council and the Public"

I was accused of harassment and bullying.

I stand by the principle that Councillors are entitled to scrutinise financial documents underpinning major rate increases. Requesting transparency is not intimidation. Seeking documentation is not misconduct.

I also wish to address a serious procedural issue. Contrary to the implication in the report, I was not notified in July 2025 to rightfully give a meaningful respond before conclusions were drawn. The report states I “did not respond,” yet I was not even contacted.

This procedural inadequacy was only addressed after the report and findings had been tabled. The report wasn’t withdrawn, the allegation wasn’t reinvestigated, I was found guilty and then asked to respond to a document months in the making in a short 2-week period in early January of 2026. I was asked to respond with no information at hand, no access to emails or correspondence from my councillor email and, during a period where our own council was closed for business.

The community should understand that this entire process revolved around tone and language during political disagreement, not corruption, not dishonesty, not financial misconduct.

After months of investigation, the outcome was that “no further action be taken”.

I have always been direct. I have always been outspoken. I have consistently raised concerns about transparency, financial management and governance decisions that impact ratepayers.

Healthy democracy requires scrutiny. It requires strong debate. It requires elected representatives willing to ask uncomfortable questions.

I will continue to believe that transparency and accountability matter, regardless of how uncomfortable that may be for some.

Witch hunt update!!!!!!

I have requested access to all information relating to the recent code of conduct investigation that was carried out and finalised without my knowledge or input. The council has approved this request, but has decided to waive the associated fees and not include the information on the council’s disclosure log.

This raises serious concerns about Council’s stated values of Respect, Integrity, Courage, Honesty, and Transparency. Based on what I have seen so far, the investigation appears deeply flawed and does not seem to reflect these core principles.

I believe the council needs to justify why this investigation was undertaken and demonstrate that it was a responsible use of ratepayer resources. I do not expect or want the fees associated with this GIPA request waived — ratepayers have already contributed significant funds to this matter, and transparency should not cost them any more.

Council should practice what it preaches and uphold transparency, particularly in relation to decisions made under the leadership of Mayor Margot Davis. This information should be available to the public, so all residents can understand the process and outcomes.

Below is my objection to the waiver and exclusion of information that has been forwarded to council.

It has taken 6 months, but the witch hunt begins. I wonder how much money they have wasted on this while increasing your rates???

I have never once been contacted to participate in this investigation. Procedural fairness and transparency is something seriously lacking in this council.

I have submitted GIPA requests but do not expect they will have the backbone to supply it.

Transparency in public notice boards 🙁

Earlier tonight I posted an opposing view to the administrators of the Glen Innes NSW community notice board, Col Pike post on the last council meeting. Not 30 seconds later the comment was removed.

The comment was in defence of former councillor Lara Greshams speech to council regarding the Mayors signiture policy, her physcosocial framework for councillors. An opinion Col was attacking Lara for having suggesting she "should know better".

Lara has every right to question this policy, its a terrible policy. The council has a lot of questions to answer seemingly hiding the policy from the community, not including it in any business papers.

The policy intends to in short, require council to be liable for the phsyco social health of councillors. Creating liability for counci should any councillor not be able to handle the stresses of thier position. Not only the remuneration recieved as a councillor but that councillors day job aswell.

And who is the council deeming responsible for the breakdown of these snowflake councillors...... you the ratepayer. The policy enforces the notion that the community is responsible for creating an enviroment where our councillors can govern effectively. Removing the responsibility of the councillor to govern effectively to create an enviroment for you the ratepayer to succeed and build our community.

Councillors are excluded from the WHS legislation and rightly so. If this is allowed to proceed where do these protections stop. Will council then be liable for other contractors, consultants, volunteers or spectators.

At a time when council should be tightening thier belt we are adding policies which have huge liability potential. We are swelling the ranks of our council creating novel positions which achieve nothing.

This needs to stop.

Some of our council needs to regain its independent thought and stop blindly following a tyrannical leader.

To me the whole thing sucks. Our Mayor has already tried a physiological claim against our council which was denied while exiting her role as the manager of economic development. Is this a ploy to circumvent that decision?

My original post and Lara's speech are attached below. Review for yourself, ask questions, dont follow a self appointed Shepard you will just blend in with the rest of the flock.

A sad day for not only America but the entire world. Charlie while controversial to some made it his mission to help and educate people, inparticularly the youth of America. He was a man of God, a proud Patriot of his country and dedicated family man. It is a sad day when a person is assassinated for thier beliefs.

My prayers are with those closest to Charlie, his wife, two children, friends and family.

RIP Charlie Kirk
