A true Martial Artist does not train to conquer others, he trains to conquer himself.
He walks in Honour when no one is watching.
He shows Courage when fear whispers.
He gives Respect before demanding it.
He stands in Loyalty, lives with Integrity,
and meets every challenge with unbreakable Discipline.
Skill makes a fighter.
Character makes a Warrior.
At least I can look in the mirror and know with all my heart that I built both of my Dojo’s from scratch. Brisbane started with zero. Gladstone started with zero. So when people have stolen from the ranks of my club, created fabricated stories in order to turn students against me, then I hold my head high, because I know that whilst they were under my instruction and care, I never wronged a single one of them. I don’t need to look at the ground if I walk past them like they have to. Because my conscience is clear. These people I once drove out to rescue from themselves at 0300 in the morning, the students who couldn’t afford to pay for months on end, only to buy a new car or bike and disappear for awhile. I would spend hours helping them through depression and suicidal ideation, all whilst battling much bigger demons than they were.
They had keys to my clubs and trained whenever they wanted to. They got either free clothing every order or at the minimum cost price.
So when I see screenshots of what these former students have said, and especially when my students question them knowing it’s complete bu****it, it has taught me that the trash taking itself out, is indeed a good thing. I have kicked out club cancers when I saw their toxicity spreading through the club. Only to see the club bounce back super positively once the s**t c***s were kicked out.
Coaches, Sensei’s, Shihan’s etc, what breaks your heart at the time because you did your best to love them, care for them and be there for them. Is actually making your next chapter that much better.
Here’s a big f**k you 🖕🏻to those cowards that rob from other clubs ranks with subterfuge and lies, I feel sorry for your students more than anything, because they’re not learning from a humble, disciplined and dedicated Martial Artist.
