FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
2026 Girgarre Moosic Muster Cancelled Due to Catastrophic Weather Forecast
The Moosic Muster Committee regrets to announce that, following formal advice from Emergency Services and Victoria Police, the remainder of the 2026 Moosic Muster has been cancelled.
The weather forecast for the northern districts for Friday has been officially upgraded to “catastrophic”. This classification indicates severe and dangerous conditions. Victoria Police have strongly advised that people do not travel on Friday if at all possible.
Based on this advice, the Committee has made the very difficult decision to cancel the event. This decision is entirely beyond our control and has been taken with the safety and wellbeing of our patrons, performers, volunteers, and community as our absolute priority.
For those who are already travelling or unable to pack up and drive long distances today, Police have advised that there are safe caravan parks with vacancies available in Rochester, Echuca, and Moama. Attendees are encouraged to go online to check availability if this situation affects their plans.
We sincerely apologise for the disappointment this cancellation will cause. We know how much love, anticipation, and planning goes into the Moosic Muster for so many people. This is not a decision taken lightly, but in circumstances like these, safety must always come first.
Looking ahead, the Moosic Muster will of course return in 2027, and prior to that we have our April and September camp weekends for your enjoyment. We very much hope to welcome everyone back then.
Please help us by passing this information on to any friends, family, or fellow music lovers who were planning to attend any of our free concerts also on Froday, Saturday or Sunday. The Girgarre Markets will be going ahead on Sunday as programmed.
Thank you for your understanding, support, and care for one another during this time.
