SC7โs was again very fortunate to have participants from Multicultural Communities Council of Illawarra (MCCI) join us at this yearโs tournament.
MCCI and Football South Coastโs joint community Free Football Program brings young people from a variety of multicultural and refugee backgrounds together through football. The program showcases the power of the beautiful world game and the values of community and inclusiveness.
This year, MCCI entered a team in the Open Womenโs and Open Menโs competitions. Many of these players regularly partake in the Community Free Football initiative, which sadly was negatively impacted by COVID restrictions in 2020. For some, the tournament was the first opportunity to participate in organised football matches and enabled participants to apply the skills gained from the Free Football Program.
SC7โs witnessed an outstanding display of football by all MCCI players, matched by the spirit in which it was played!
Well done to all involved in this wonderful community initiative and for contributing to a great weekend of football.๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ
