CONGRATULATIONS / We’re thrilled to see three talented designers who exhibited in the ‘Gradient’ exhibition at Fremantle Design Week 2024 are finalists in the Rigg Prize, Australia’s most prestigious accolade for contemporary design. The $40,000 Rigg Prize will be awarded to an early-career Australian design practice. Huge congratulations Kartika Laili Ahmad , Olive Gille-Hille  and Douglas Powell (who also showed at FDW2022). The work of all finalists is currently exhibited at the .

Massive props to Mark Lilly  for his excellent curation of ‘Gradient’. Mark’s unique Banksia Chair, also made for ‘Gradient’, is currently in the show ‘Making Good: Redesigning the Everyday’, also currently on show in the . Rising stars all.

CONGRATULATIONS LIAM YOUNG | Did you see ‘Planet City’ at FDW2024? A huge congrats to director and FDW guest, Liam Young on the news that Planet City has been acquired by MoMA  in New York and is now in the museum’s permanent collection! We’re thrilled for Liam and all the many people who contributed to the film.

Planet City is a film set in an imaginary city for 10 billion people, the entire population of the earth, where we surrender the rest of the world to a global scaled wilderness and the return of stolen lands. The original commissioners of the project were  &

MAKERS’ FILM FESTIVAL | Come down to the lovely Fremantle Maritime Museum this afternoon for a short film festival with a focus on international makers, making and materials. The 1 hour 45 minute program has a 20 minute interval, runs from 2 - 4 pm and is presented by as part of the Indian Ocean Craft Triennial. Always a highlight!
