Conscious Parenting Consulting

At Conscious Parenting, I help parents and educators nurture deeper connections with children by focusing on emotional understanding, resilience, and growth. Drawing on over 21 years as a kindergarten teacher, my training in Tuning into Kids, and my work as an author and speaker, I support families and professionals to:

Build strong, supportive relationships with c

hildren

Use emotion coaching to guide behaviour and learning

Create calm, connected environments at home and in the classroom

Foster healthy routines around sleep, nutrition, and daily life

Whether through my book Conscious Parenting, workshops, or one-on-one consulting, my mission is to empower adults to respond with empathy, clarity, and confidence — helping children thrive in their early years and beyond.

🌱 Because when we nurture children’s hearts, we guide their journey — which is their destination.

I’m proud to share that I have completed and submitted my Teacher Progression application, moving from Accomplished Teacher toward Exemplary Teacher.

This process has been far more than a requirement. It has been a powerful opportunity to deeply reflect on my practice and articulate the work I do every day with children, families and colleagues.

At this level, it is not just about what we do as educators, but why we do it and the impact it has.

Each step of the process has challenged me to:
• reflect on my leadership and teaching practice
• clearly explain the intent behind my decisions
• demonstrate the outcomes for children, families and educators

What has stood out most is how strongly my work is grounded in relationships, emotional development and connection. Taking the time to unpack and articulate this has reinforced my belief that when children feel safe, secure and supported, everything else in their learning can grow from there.

This process has strengthened my understanding of what exemplary practice looks like and has given me greater clarity and confidence in the work I do.

Grateful for the journey, the growth, and the opportunity to continue learning.

Today I’m presenting to a Teacher Progression Panel — an opportunity to reflect on my practice and demonstrate the work I’ve been doing to strengthen outcomes for children, families, and educators.

Moments like this remind me of something I often share with parents:

The most important work we can do for children is the work we do on ourselves.

When we invest in our own learning, reflection, and emotional growth, we become calmer, more present, and more responsive to the children in our lives. Children feel this. They sense when the adults around them are grounded and secure.

As educators and as parents, we are not expected to be perfect. But we do have a responsibility to keep learning — to deepen our understanding of children, emotions, relationships, and ourselves.

This ongoing growth is not just professional development.
It is personal development that benefits the children who rely on us.

When we take the time to grow, reflect, and strengthen our own capacity, we create the conditions where children feel safe, secure, and supported — the foundation for all learning and wellbeing.

Whatever role we play in a child’s life, our commitment to growth is one of the greatest gifts we can offer them.

Sometimes Conscious Parenting is about honouring yourself first, so you can truly be there for your children.

This was a small but meaningful surprise on my Garmin this morning—wishing me a happy birthday.

Look after yourself, so you can look after your children.

“I trust the process because I trust who I am in the process.”

Many parents I work with tell me that when things feel hard—big emotions, meltdowns, pushback, uncertainty—they start to doubt themselves.
They look outward for the right strategy.
The right advice.
The right way to parent.

What I’ve learned, both personally and professionally, is that what truly supports children isn’t perfection or having all the answers.
It’s the inner work parents do.
The reflection.
The growing confidence to stay present with their child’s emotional experience.

This sits at the heart of conscious parenting.

Supporting children with their emotions doesn’t mean fixing, rescuing, or shutting feelings down. It means learning to notice, name, and respond with connection—especially when things feel messy or uncomfortable.

When parents begin to trust themselves within those moments, something powerful happens. Children feel safer. Emotions move through rather than build up. Relationships strengthen.

In my work, I support parents to:
• understand their child’s emotional world
• build confidence responding to big and small feelings
• stay connected during challenging moments
• trust themselves as the steady guide their child needs

Parenting isn’t about getting it right every time.
It’s about trusting yourself enough to stay present, curious, and connected—one moment at a time.

Your child’s journey is their destination.
