Walky 100 Story
The Walky 100 Rally is the longest regularly run event of the South Australian Rally Championship (SARC) dating back to the 1980s, traditionaly run in the Eudunda/Robertstown Area It enjoys enthusiastic support from competitors and the rallying fraternity alike.
Over the years, the event has hosted many prominent drivers in the past, including Molly Taylor, 2016 Australian Rally Champion. The event also has a long history of hosting state and national Rally Championship winners. Notable winners of the event are Ed Ordynski (ARC 1990) and Eli Evans (2015 ARC) as well as many South Australian Rally Champions (SARC) who clocked up a win at the Walky 100 along the way to the championship .
In 2015, the event was honoured to receive the CAMS award for Event of the Year for South Australia and Northern Territory
Rallying is where the competitors transverse on public roads to Special Stages where the public roads are closed to all other traffic and timed for travelling through each section. The car that has the lowest time for all stages is declared the outright winner.
Various spectator view points are set out in these stages and a map is available giving directions.
The event is run by the Walkerville All Cars Club (a.k.a. Walky) which has been around for over 60 years. Members come from all walks of life and age groups. From junior members up, they all help to make Walky one of the premier rally clubs in South Australia. Not content with running traditional Rally events the club also operates there own track where competitors new to the sport can get a feel and practise before taking on the big events. This will help the next generation of drivers.
