A friendly reminder of the meeting organised for tonight, Wednesday February 11 7:30 PM at the Progress Hall.
It has been called to advise you of upcoming changes to the EBPA which will take effect at the AGM in May. These changes may have the potential to significantly impact the administration of the EBPA.
We ask that you attend.
The scope of activities currently undertaken by the EBPA will be up for review. There will also be some committee positions that will be vacated at the AGM in May, as well as the Hall Bookings Officer (effective June 30).
The EBPA is a wonderful community organisation, comprising volunteers dedicated to our community. Some of those activities include:
1. Managing and maintaining the Progress Hall - lawns, gardens, general maintenance, pest control etc.
2. Facilitating hall use for regular classes and casual hall bookings (weddings, birthdays, family celebrations) etc.
3. Bi-monthly newsletter publication, distributed to approximately 2,500 homes keeping locals up to date on activities of interest to the community
4. Active representation of Empire Bay to all levels of government
Grant applications which have paid for significant hall and War Memorial renovations and major upgrades to our website to showcase the Bay, facilitate automated hall bookings and as a source of local information
5. Responsibility for the War Memorial and its upkeep
Organising our ANZAC Day service which requires coordination with veteran organisations, police, local schools, Sea Scouts, local politicians and council.
6. Hosting events including the Village Fair, Biggest Morning tea and Christmas Eve BBQ which provide financial support to local schools and RFS
7. Administering membership and communication with members
Managing PA financials
8. Support local businesses through newsletter advertising and editorials
9. Administer legal requirements of managing a Tier 2 community not for profit
Thank you to everyone that helps.
Each of you as members values the work done by the Empire Bay Progress Association but to continue, urgent additional community engagement, participation and support is needed. The association can only continue to function with more active community support.
Please attend the meeting on Wednesday Feb 11 to openly discuss in preparation for the AGM in May.
