This one really hurts, Coasties. 💔

Raw Challenge is over... and, like us, we know so many of you will be so sad to hear this.

Raw Challenge has been such an iconic Coastie activity for years, and our Playing in Puddles family absolutely loved it. We joined in every year since our eldest – now 12 – was five, and honestly thought we’d keep doing it forever.

One kid eventually became two, and before long they were absolutely smashing us on the obstacles (especially the monkey bars 😂). But that’s what made Raw Challenge so special – it was one of those rare family activities we could keep growing with as the kids got older. We loved it, and we know so many of you did too.

Thank you to Rachael and the Raw Challenge team for creating something so ridiculously fun for families and friends. And thank you for trusting Playing in Puddles to advertise your incredible events for so many years too. We always loved sharing Raw Challenge because we genuinely loved doing it ourselves and wanted other families to experience the fun too.

The team shared today, “As the business landscape continues to change, we’ve made the difficult decision to finish up Raw Challenge events from 31 May 2026.”

We’re really grateful we got to be part of it for so many years.

It’s been one hell of a ride, full of mud, laughter, epic wipeouts, unforgettable moments, more mud, and most importantly, the chance to share incredible adventures with family, friends, teammates, colleagues and the wider community.

For more than 15 years, Raw Challenge proudly built and operated the largest fixed obstacle course in the Southern Hemisphere. What started as a crazy idea turned into something truly special, a place where hundreds of thousands of people came together to challenge themselves, get filthy dirty, laugh lots, and create memories that lasted long after the mud washed off.

We’re incredibly proud of the experience we created and deeply grateful to every single person who supported Raw Challenge, joined an event, volunteered, partnered with us, or encouraged others to take on the challenge and give it a crack.

Over the years, we’ve welcomed and supported hundreds of thousands of participants, schools, sporting clubs, corporate teams, community groups and charitable organisations. That’s a lot of obstacles conquered, a lot of muddy shoes and a whole lot of fun.
As the business landscape continues to change, we’ve made the difficult decision to finish up Raw Challenge events from 31 May 2026.

This absolutely wasn’t an easy call. But while this chapter is coming to an end, we’re walking away incredibly proud of what we built together and thankful for the amazing communities that made Raw Challenge what it became.

To everyone who climbed, crawled, slipped, laughed, face-planted, cheered, supported and celebrated with us over the years, thank you.

Our Main Events wouldn't have been the success they were without the brilliant help from our regular Raw Challenge Instructors and volunteers from the Iris Foundation, Catherine Hill Bay Surf Life Saving Club and The Glen... along with Heath Currie (our resident Emcee), Nathan and his team from Magoos Party Hire (with music that kept you pumped), Prestige Party Hire (unreal marquees), Sydney Brewery (who quenched your thirst after your run)... and not to mention Michelle and her team from Michelle Kennedy Digital Art and Photography for taking endless snaps of our participants tackling the course event after event.

All epic things must come to an end, but the memories, friendships and stories will last forever.
