Tourism and Events NT national military campaign salutes the legacy of Territory’s military heritage.

From the site of the largest bombing on Australian soil in Darwin, to authentic wartime locations across the Territory, history here isn’t just remembered — it’s experienced.

Tourism and Events NT has launched a bold new Military Heritage campaign inviting visitors to ‘Plot Your Course Through History’, showcasing frontline WWII sites, powerful local stories and contemporary defence activity, including Exercise Pitch Black hosted by the Royal Australian Air Force.

Bringing it to life on the streets, the Darwin Street Art Festival is unveiling a dedicated Military Mural Trail, celebrating 10 years of iconic murals and honouring Darwin’s wartime legacy.

The world-famous Pitch Black will be held from July 20 to August 7, with RAAF Bases Darwin and Tindal nominated.

Territorians, get ready! The wait is over, following the huge announcement earlier this year that the Dolphins NRL are officially the Territory’s NRL team, history is about to be made! Round 7 is locked in: the Dolphins will clash with the powerhouse Penrith Panthers in their first-ever home game at TIO Stadium!

This is more than a match, it’s a moment for the NT to shine. The action will be broadcast on Channel 9, but nothing beats being there live. Tickets go on sale soon, so for now head to the link below and make sure you’re first in line for this epic showdown.

In exciting news for drag racing fans, Nitro Up North is set for a massive return to the Hidden Valley Drag Strip from Friday, 14 to Saturday, 15 August 2026!

As a key round of the National Drag Racing Championship (NDRC), the event promises two thrilling nights of ground-shaking action and family fun in perfect dry season weather.

The heart-stopping Top Fuel Dragsters return to the Top End, unleashing their flame-throwing, nitro-fuelled power. Fans will also be thrilled by a full round of Top Doorslammer, and the Aeroflow Sportsman Championship - Australia’s national series for Sportsman racers. These competitors will also earn points towards the ANDRA Regional Sportsman Championship, cementing Nitro Up North as a huge event for grass roots drag racers.

📣 Darwin Welcomes the AFL Masters National Carnival

The AFL Masters National Carnival returns to Darwin tomorrow for the first time in more than a decade.

From 28 September to 4 October, the 42nd edition of the Carnival will bring:

• 2,500+ players and supporters
• 59 teams from every State and Territory
• Competitors aged 35–72 across men’s and women’s divisions

Games will be played at The Gardens, TIO and Nightcliff Ovals, with highlights including the Indigenous All Stars v Allies matches on Friday, 3 October, ahead of the NTFL season opener.

With a full schedule of matches and social events, the Carnival will showcase the very best of Masters football and community spirit.

The AFL Masters National Carnival is proudly supported by the Northern Territory Government.
