Thank you Everyone!!
A heartfelt message from the Dalby Welcoming Community Team:
"What an amazing few days in Dalby! For the Dalby Welcoming Community Inc, planning and delivering Dalby’s Delicious & DeLIGHtful Festival this past week has been like a roller coaster ride. Rain on Wednesday and having to make last-minute changes to plans made months ago was a challenge.
We were very fortunate to have perfect festival weather on Friday and Saturday with so many of our community coming out to enjoy the amazing range of activities. It truly was a festival by the community for the community.
We would like to thank everyone in our community (and there are literally hundreds) who were involved - from the young man who volunteered for four days (his parents should be so proud) to the cattle breeder who took the time to bring us in the corrugated cows from his garden for our Lighting Installation Exhibition. Our local businesses who donated time, vehicles, their space and their workforce. To our cultural groups, big and small, who committed their time and energy ensuring wonderful colour to our festival - we so appreciate you all in our community.
We especially thank the schools and kindies and other groups who decorated lanterns to make our lantern parade truly spectacular. This year, our businesses looked amazing with some wonderful displays of lanterns in their shop windows in the lead-up to the festival.
What can we say about the festival itself - the markets, the food stalls, the setup and logistics of the festival, the celebrity chefs and the fun family cook-off, the flag parade and citizenship ceremony, the children’s activity area, the volley ball, the fun-run, the entertainment and the lantern parade.
For a small committee, who prides itself on doing a job well, it has been music to our ears to hear from our entertainers who perform around the world and our stall holders who attend festivals regularly that it is one of the best festivals they have attended.
If you see any of the Dalby Welcoming Community group out and about (they will look exhausted), thank them for a job well done. I am sure they feel done and busted right now! All of the committee have put their lives on hold to ensure the festival was the best it can be. We thank their patient families who have supported them.
None of this is possible without our generous sponsors. Without them and their commitment to Dalby and the festival, there would be no festival. We hope we have highlighted your - our sponsors - roles in our community and beyond, and made you feel special and that your sponsorship has been well spent.
And finally, Dalby is an especially unique community that loves to celebrate its diversity and we love that our community has come together to enjoy another amazing and memorable festival.
