A conversation can make a difference. 💛

Today is R U OK? Day, a reminder to check in with the people around us, not just today, but whenever something doesn’t seem quite right.

Whether it’s a friend, colleague, family member, student or someone in your community, taking the time to ask “Are you OK?” and genuinely listening to the answer can mean more than we realise.

You don’t need to have all the answers. Sometimes, simply making time, being present and letting someone know you’re there is a good place to start.

At The Collaroy Centre, we see every day how connection, shared experiences and a sense of belonging can bring people together.

So today, take a moment to check in with someone in your world.

Ask. Listen. Encourage action. Check in. 💛

Look who made it into Peninsula Living!

The September issue of Peninsula Living Pittwater has a lovely piece on The Collaroy Centre. It covers how this place began with a single act of kindness over a hundred years ago, and what still drives the team here today.

Thank you to Nuria Olive and the team at Peninsula Living for telling our story so well. Pick up a copy if you spot one around the Peninsula, or find the digital magazine here, we are on page 30: https://northsidelivingnews.com.au/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/magfiles/092026/PW/index.html

We will share a link to the article on the North Side Living website as soon as it lands.

Meet Steven 👋

We’re kicking off a new Meet the Team series, introducing you to some of the people who help make The Collaroy Centre what it is.

First up is Steven, our Program Manager!

If you’ve ever done an activity here at the Centre, chances are Steven has played a part in making it happen and potentially have even crossed paths with him, so now it’s time to get to know him a little better.

We put Steven in front of the camera to talk about his role, his time at Collaroy and a few of the things that make working here special.

Hit play to meet Steven, and keep an eye out as we introduce you to more of the faces behind The Collaroy Centre over the coming weeks. 👋

Leadership starts long before you’re given a title, but sometimes the title helps too.

Recently, The Collaroy Centre welcomed Year 6 student leaders from a number of local schools for a leadership camp designed to stretch and challenge their ideas about what it means to lead.

Bringing students from different schools together gave them the opportunity to step outside their usual friendship groups, meet new people, share ideas and practise the communication, teamwork and confidence that good leadership requires.

And there’s another important benefit.

With high school just around the corner, these students will soon make one of the biggest transitions of their school lives. Building friendships outside their own school community and learning to feel comfortable with new people can help develop the confidence and independence they’ll draw on when that next chapter begins.

Through challenges, conversations and shared experiences, the camp gave these young leaders a chance to think about how they can positively influence their schools today - while building skills that will stay with them well beyond Year 6.

A great few days with some of our community’s emerging young leaders. 👏

Five years, five fantastic people — and a combined 25 years of making The Collaroy Centre a better place! 🎉

Recently we celebrated Sophie, Michelle, Kasinee, Kanya and Gyaltsen, who have each reached their five-year anniversary with us.

Over the past five years, they’ve brought plenty of hard work, care, energy and personality to the Centre, helping create the welcoming experience our guests and groups know and love.

Please join us in congratulating them on this brilliant milestone. We’re very lucky to have you on the team — and after five years, you officially know where everything is!

Happy five-year anniversary!

Some of the biggest lessons students learn aren’t found in a textbook.

They’re learned while encouraging a teammate to keep going, tackling a challenge they didn’t think they could do, or discovering they’re capable of more than they realised.

That’s the power of quality outdoor education. It builds confidence, resilience, communication and leadership through experiences that stay with students long after camp is over.

If you’re planning your next school camp, our latest blog explores what makes an outdoor education program truly impactful and why the right environment matters.

As another financial year comes to a close, we’d like to thank every guest, school, church, community group, volunteer and supporter who has been part of The Collaroy Centre this year.

Together, we’ve welcomed thousands of guests, delivered memorable experiences, supported communities and continued investing in improvements across the Centre.

From facility upgrades and new activities to the many camps, conferences and community groups that call Collaroy home, every milestone has been made possible through the support of our guests and team.

We’re proud of what has been achieved this year and excited about what lies ahead.
