🖤❤️💛Our series is back! And to kick off the new year we’re highlighting a Queensland icon: the Australian Bush (Alectura lathami)! 🪶✨ This easily recognisable is not actually closely related to the Thanksgiving mascot, the true turkeys in the genus Meleagris. ❌🦃 Much like its closer relative, the Malleefowl, these birds don’t build typical nests! 🐣🪺They build a compost mound out of surrounding vegetation, and the heat from decomposition keeps the eggs nice and warm until they hatch!

☀️ In these cute babies are hatching, so keep an eye out if you’re in their habitat! 🥰🌳
