A Musical Journey for Dave.
It has been 20 months since Kate left this world and I still miss her very much. When unexpected things happen to family and friends those left behind struggle to find meaning in their life. Some people stay in their own little world living on memories while others take on challenges like walking great distances or taking on a cause. My life revolves around acoustic folk music, sharing songs and stories so on 14th of July, in a week I depart Adelaide and Dave will be BUSKING IN EUROPE. First I go to Sicily. A couple, Salvatore and Emmeline from Italy and France on a working holiday Visa stayed with Kate and I a few years ago and we helped them find work plus they were both baristas and helped in our Singing Gazebo concerts . We became good friends They live in Sicily and will look after me and help organise some impromptu concerts. From Sicily it's Porto in Portugal. Annette from Ukulele Club SUS has a beautiful Ukulele which she purchased from Casa da Guitarra Music Centre in Porto. They have regular acoustic concerts in their shop and I have arranged to present an Australian Folk Concert for them. It should be fun. Then train to Lisbon, a bit of busking then fly to London and train to Edinburgh where I will present 10 concerts in the Edinburgh Fringe plus do some street busking. Thanks to Sandie Griffin from South Cost Folk Club for her contact for John Moises who I will stay with.
It's going to be quite a challenge for me. a month on the road so hope my ageing body and voice hold out. Not sure if I will cover all my costs but there are some things we just have to do and this working musical holiday is one of them.
Over the last year I have put together an album, some old songs with Kate plus some new material. There are 17 songs on the album titled Dave Clark Australian Folk Singer..Travelling Man. I hope to sell a few in Europe. I have hard copies plus you can buy it on line and do a download through BANDCAMP COST $20. https://daveclark2.bandcamp.com/album/travelling-man-2. I have sold a few hard copies but so far only one on line..there's much to learn!
My best wishes to Everyone
