Care of animals including adequate food and water supply as well as full supervision remains the responsibility of owners during the stay. Please bring appropriate identification for your animals.

Castle Hill Showground is open for those people and their livestock and pets who have been displaced by floods. Please contact the Greater Sydney Local Land Services on 1800 814 647 for more information. Residents who are bringing their animals to the Showground must remain with them at all times and must also be self-sufficient.

Castle Hill Showground is currently an evacuation point for livestock and domestic animals affected by floods.

Pitt Town resident Coco Miles evacuated 26 horses after seeing a post about Castle Hill Showground as an evacuation center. She has 11 horses at the Showground and the rest went to higher ground. She’s happy that her horses have a place to go where they are safe and dry.

Altogether there are 30 horses, around 20 goats and a few dogs at the Showground, seeking refuge from the flood. There is also a mobile vet onsite.

Thank you to the Greater Sydney Local Land Services who are helping those at Castle Hill Showground who have been displaced by the floods.

Castle Hill Showground is open to sheltering livestock and domestic animals. Attendees must be self sufficient and remain with their animals.

Please be advised that in accordance with the NSW Public Health Order outdoor sporting facilities are only open to limited activity such as social sport, tennis and personal training to a maximum of 10 people observing the 4 square meter social distancing requirements. Sport matches or training such as football or netball are not permitted unless the same social distancing rules are followed with a maximum of 10 people and 4 square meters.

LARGE ANIMAL REFUGE | Castle Hill Showground will be open from 8am tomorrow for residents needing to evacuate horses and livestock away from the danger of bush fire.

If you need to make use of this refuge, please come prepared to remain with your animals and with as much water and feed as you can, as there is no guarantee this can be supplied. Bathroom facilities will be available.

📍Castle Hill Showground, entrance off Showground Road at the traffic lights between intersections and lights at Gilbert Road and Carrington Road.
