A very special happy birthday to The Canberra Times
How special is this?
The Canberra Times is celebrating its 100th birthday in 2026.
To help celebrate, the stunning voices of the Luminescence Chamber Singers have come together to sing Happy Birthday to the newspaper.
The Canberra-based vocal ensemble will be one of the stars of the show at the upcoming Canberra International Music Festival, which is on from April 29 to May 3.
Deputy editor of The Canberra Times Scott Hannaford said the newspaper was proud to sponsor the festival and thrilled to hear the voices of the Luminescence Chamber Singers.
"It's a beautiful rendition and we're very thankful to the singers for helping to celebrate such a big milestone for us all," Mr Hannaford said.
The Luminescence Chamber Singers, comprising six professional singers, will be performing Luminescence and the Machine at The Street Theatre on April 30 and May 3.
Developed in collaboration with Grammy-award-winning producer/composer William Brittelle, Luminescence and the Machine "probes the porous boundary between the human and bionic".
"Ground-breaking electronic architecture enables each singer to digitally manipulate their own voice in real-time and triggers a complex web of reflexive, inter-dependent effects, unleashing entirely new sonic possibilities," we are told.
This is an elite-level version of Happy Birthday.
