2025 REVIEW: OPEN MIXED QUAD

Three distances. $30k. One winner.

The Open Mixed Quad was the main event of Golden Oar 2025. And it delivered.

1st — Bronwyn Cox, Giorgia Patten, Nicholas Blackman, Alexander Rossi

2nd — Georgie Rowe, Jacqui Swick, Jackson Free, Johnson Daubney

3rd — Dom Frederico, Austin Reinehr, Emmie Frederico, Paige Barr

The field had Olympic and world championship pedigree in it — including the Sinković brothers racing in Australia for the first time — but the local NTC crews still came out on top.

Our biggest category by entries in 2025, the Under 19 Mixed Coxed Quad showcased some of our nations most promising young talent and delivered exciting, high-calibre racing across both days of competition. Representation spanned a variety of crew line-up formations: singular school and club line-ups, composite club line-ups and, uniquely, school composite crews to ensure single-gender boys and girls schools could participate in the mixed crew format that makes Golden Oar special. It was a victory for the Lake Burley Griffin locals of Canberra/ANU, with Mosman and UTS capturing podium finishes.

The Mixed Masters Quad of 2025 was a site to behold. Our second largest division by entries, masters crews from A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H and J age categories were all represented, showcasing the breadth and depth of rowing participation that the Golden Oar seeks to showcase. In 2025, it was Canberra Rowing Club (H) that took the victory, with Yarra Yarra and St George hot on their heels to round out the podium.

The Club Mixed Quad Scull was a hotly contested category in 2025, with podium places fought out between the three powerhouse Sydney-based rowing clubs, with UTS ultimately taking the W.

This year sees the inclusion of a NEW club event in the Golden Oar, with the first sweep boat class being added with the Mixed Coxed Eight. With double the horsepower, a cox on board and only one oar to manage, we are sure the eights are going to set some blistering times down the track come race day.
