Rock the Clock volunteers are gearing up for an even bigger and better program for their third annual community-run festival in Camperdown from October 24-27 this year.

Organising committee founding member Sara Napier said the best thing everyone could do to support the ongoing growth of the rockabilly-inspired festival was to save themselves some money and take advantage of Early Bird Tickets sales now.

The call to action comes as the festival’s musical director Peter Daffy revealed some of the bands already confirmed for Rock the Clock 2019.

Mrs Napier said the small army of volunteers on the organising committee were confident the festival would take another big step forward this year. She urged people to take advantage of the current Early Bird Tickets to show their support for the event.

“We held a special night at The Courthouse Camperdown for our amazing sponsors last month to thank them and explain just how important their financial support is,” she said.

“Quite simply, Rock the Clock could not happen without our sponsors – they contribute about half of our $50,000-plus budget and the other half comes from ticket sales.

“Even though the Early Bird Ticket sales ultimately see less revenue for the festival, the timing of that revenue now – prior to the festival weekend – is really important to our organising committee as it gives us confidence and cash to build up the program, lock in bands, sound engineers, marquees and various other logistics necessary to run a successful four day event.”

Mrs Napier said the community had been left with the job of delivering events in Corangamite Shire and local support was critical to all such events’ economic sustainability.

“Our event turnover of $50,000-plus, contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to the shire economy. We’re confident we will continue to draw crowds of people from afar and that we can build local support further in 2019 for the betterment of the community and our local economy.”
